🔐 Voice messages on Knock Knock vanish by default, we don’t save them, and there’s no way for us to listen in. What you share stays private, just like it should.
🧡 We only gather what’s absolutely essential to make Knock Knock function the way it should, and for a limited time.
🚫 Your data is not for sale. We’re not into tracking you, following you, or sneaking around your online life. That’s just not our thing.

Using Knock Knock
In a nutshell, we use your unique Knock Knock ID and phone settings to alert you when a friend is messaging you, and to sync your phone’s “Do Not Disturb” with Knock Knock (for those office meetings). Rest assured, we secure all your communications, but we never have access to your voice messages or the content you share!
Notifications
What data?
Phone details and settings (such as model, OS version, and language preferences)
Why?
To notify you when someone wants to chat, poke you, or is already talking to you!
On what basis?
It’s essential for using the app in line with our terms and conditions.
How long?
We don't keep any notification history!
Usage settings
What data?
Details about your phone's settings, including your "Do Not Disturb" status if it's activated.
Why?
To make sure Knock Knock doesn’t pop up at inconvenient times (like office meetings 😅)!
On what basis?
It’s essential for using the app in line with our terms and conditions.
How long?
We don’t store any information about your status.
Friend Management
What data?
The Knock Knock ID of both the user sending the friend request and the one receiving it, existing friendships on the app, and a unique code for connecting.
Why?
This lets you accept or decline friend requests, and even "mute" or "ghost" them!

Required to use the app in accordance with our terms and conditions.
How long?
For as long as you have a Knock Knock account, or up to 3 years after our last interaction, whichever comes first.
Communication with friends
What data?
Your voice (we don’t store it, nor do we have access to it - it’s routed through our WebRTC server as it is a live communication, so no storage happening).
Why?
So you can chat with your friends.
On what basis?
Required to use the app in accordance with our terms and conditions.
How long?
We can’t listen to your voice, which means we don’t store it either!
Internal analyses
We’re always enhancing the app, and to do that, we rely on statistical analyses. This allows us to identify and fix bugs, as well as spot issues like poor display performance on certain phones, for example…

What data?
Your unique Knock Knock ID, along with usage data such as phone type, number of friends, IP address.
Why?
To help us analyze what’s working well and what’s not, so we can improve Knock Knock’s features.

Our genuine interest in constantly enhancing the app and your overall user experience.
How long?
As long as the information is needed to assess Knock Knock's performance.
Security analyses
What data?
Your usage data, including bugs you've reported, connection history.
Why?
The purpose of this processing is to ensure the smooth operation, availability, and security of the Knock Knock app.

Our legitimate interest in constantly enhancing the app and optimizing your user experience.
How long?
As long as the information is needed to fix a bug or evaluate the security level.
PS: Your IP address isn’t considered sensitive data, and we can’t access your exact location — it only helps us estimate your region!

What data?
Your unique Knock Knock ID, name, email address, details of the rights exercised, and our communication records.
Why?
To handle and track your requests regarding the exercise of your data rights.

Required to fulfill our obligations under the GDPR.

Your unique Knock Knock ID, last name, first name, and email address, if required by the authority.

Management of user reports
What data?
The unique Knock Knock ID of both the reporting user and the one being reported, along with the reason for the report.
Why?
To foster a positive environment and prevent inappropriate behavior!

Our legitimate interest in safeguarding users from inappropriate behavior or illegal content.
How long?
For the duration required to process the report.
Who has access to your data?
To keep Knock Knock running smoothly and give you the best possible experience, we rely on Google Analytics, who help us with stats, secure data storage, or sending login codes.
To keep your data, and that of users worldwide, safe and secure, we use our trusted hosting provider, Firebase. Your data is stored on firebase servers located in the India.
But no stress, your info is protected by safeguards equivalent to EU standards. Firebase is officially part of the Data Privacy Framework, which ensures compliance with data protection agreements between the EU and the U.S.
And just so you know: we never transfer your data outside the EU without the proper legal safeguards in place, in full respect of GDPR requirements.
