The award winning independent film produced by K&K Studio became trending in the US. K&K Studio made the film with a crew of newly recruited members with the hopes of bringing new ideas to the table. KNN is provided with exclusive access to behind the scenes and crew member interviews.
"Special thanks to Director Frank for giving me the opportunity to participate in this project. I’m a rookie audience researcher and this project was great in helping me learn more about the workflow of the industry. The seniors were really friendly and they taught me how to create surveys and analyze primary data. I was taught how to collect and analyze secondary data taken from other companies as well but I was only taught the basics because we focused mainly on primary research. The team is composed of nice and talented people and I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with K&K."
"Being involved in the convention research for this team is a great experience. Not only do I learn about the conventions and the language of film-media, I’ve even learned how to dissect film sequences. This allowed us to understand the conventions and choose to follow or subvert them. The research that the team did heavily impacted the visual outcomes of the project. For example, the bandages on Jaren’s head in the beginning were inspired by films like The Batman. I love my team and my job, it’s like a dream come true!"
"This is my first time writing a screenplay for a professional indie film. I really didn’t expect the script to make it to the final product and create a successful movie. The team was very supportive and helped me so much in learning and remembering how to format a script, like how I need to use a specific font or the specific tedious indents. I’ve learned many important creative skills like storyboarding; mood-boarding; character and set design and so many more. The team was so friendly and close together, I didn’t expect to work directly with the director of the film at all!"
"To me, safety and legality is very important. I decided to join K&K in their Safety and Legal team. Our job is to help the Idea, Concept and Writing Team with their legal and safety documents as well as working with the director and Production Team to ensure safety and legality of the project. We helped the concept team with their legal documents. The team taught me how to create these documents based on the ideas. I worked closely with the idea team and created the treatment and proposal as well as a synopsis. After the ideas got approved, my team taught me how to create a risk assessment and a production schedule to get ready for the production day. Our team also worked with the idea team to create a shot list. The time at K&K really elevated my documents work skills as well as taught me many useful things relating to the tools that I use often."
"I was one of the lead producers of the film and worked as the assistant for the director. I’ve gained many skills during my time working with Director Frank and producing for the film. I was put in charge of casting stars, contracting, and producing with some directing on the side. I’ve learned how to find suitable stars and make talent release forms, learned how to professionally find and rent out locations using a location consent and location recce document. I’ve made sure the filming environment is comfortable and suitable as well as taking care of the crew needs like food, entertainment during breaktime, hygiene needs…
Working with the director also taught me a lot about directing, I was taught how to place actors, props, follow and give out directions based on storyboards and screenplays. I also work very closely with the rest of the crew to make sure everything is functioning according to plan. It has been an honor to work with director Frank and his team and I am very proud of our product."
"K&K is the first studio I filmed for. The team is really welcoming and taught me many things with filming using professional filming tools. I learned to use advanced features of the professional camera as well as getting used to setting up flexible angles using tripods and other objects. I also learned about different shot types like Extreme-close ups and over the shoulder to more unique shots like two-shots or using the rule of thirds. So far it has been a great time in K&K, I hope I can stay working here for a long time!"
"I’m Franc and I created the costumes and sets for the film INCOGNI. Throughout the project I had learned so many things from concepting to color theory. During costume design I had many ideas for the main antagonist but instead of developing on those ideas, I learned that sometimes you have to keep things simple and go with a full black design. I learned this from a senior that told me that audiences like to modify our trailers and clips to potentially reveal things about the film. For example, some of them like to adjust the brightness of the scene to reveal things in the dark. That’s why in the first scenes I decided to make the main antagonist wear full black to not reveal too much in the trailer. We also have to work with what is available to us due to the limited budget we have, that is why clothes of the characters are a lot more simplistic compared to the original concept but I still manage to keep the design stand out using color theory and some fashion theories that I’ve learned along the way. That is: “Clothing that is not interesting in color needs to be interesting in shape, if clothing is not interesting in shape needs to be interesting in texture”. During set design I’ve learned how to set up lights, cameras, props. Maintaining continuity is also an important skill that I’ve learned and used throughout this project. "
P.S: “I’ve placed a cameo in the opening sequence of the INCOGNI, see if you can find it!”
"I’m one of the contracted editors for INCOGNI, the editing team worked closely together, Mr. Alexander - head of the editing team is very talented and taught me many things when working with Premiere Pro. Before this project I was more accustomed to using DaVinci Resolve but with Mr. Alexander's help, I was able to keep up with the team. I learned everything advanced from color-grading to designing original special effects as well as basic skills like assembly, cutting, and adding transitions and effects. K&K studio is a great company to work for and I look forward to continuing working with them in the future."
"Hi, I’m Fran. I work at K&K music team. I got to work really closely with the lead composer and we worked on many concepts for the main theme of the film. I’m new to the industry so I have to do self study to keep up. I learned many things about mixing and music production as well as many useful music theories. Music production has been my dream and composing a score for a film is a great learning experience."
"I worked on the logo, stream overlay and poster for INCOGNI. My time at K&K has been a great learning, working and experimenting environment. I learned to design a logo using a combination of hand drawn concepts with applications like Illustrator. I learned to use complex tools within Illustrator as well as experimenting with Canva to create the stream overlay and implementing green-screen technique. If I had a chance to, I would have made the stream overlay with a more professional software but we were on a tight deadline so Canva is used instead. The team has been very welcoming and informative, it is great here!"
INCOGNI will stay in theater until 35th of August 2027
