Most days, we will be working in groups and doing mathematics at the whiteboards. Groups will be randomly assigned: some days you'll enjoy the group you are working with, while other days may be more challenging. Each person in your group has something unique to offer.
Expect to experience some confusion. Lessons are designed to draw on knowledge you already have, using skills you may need more practice with. Trust that clarity will come, and that the process is designed to help you make sense of mathematical ideas. Here's something to think about:
"Some people don’t like maths because they think, 'Oh my brain is getting all confused, it must be because I’m not very good at this.' But actually, that’s what maths is all about. You do have to feel like you are getting confused along the way, and that confusion is part of the path. If you never feel like you’ve pushed your brain to its limits, then your brain will never stretch. It will just keep doing all the things it could already do."
