I’m Leah and I have been knitting and crocheting since I was 9 years old ever since I learned how to knit in a 4-H club meeting and fell in love with the craft. Using my hands became like therapy to me and helped me reduce stress. Soon after learning how to knit, my church began a Prayer Shawl Ministry and I started crocheting prayer shawls for members of the community. At the beginning, I began by making dishcloths, scarves, and hats as gifts. However, church members and friends were soon asking me to make things for them. Thus, my hobby has expanded. I’ve had a great time developing this hobby and discovering new ways to spread my passion to others.
Open to youth ages 8-18, participants will learn new skills involving all things yarn! With an emphasis on crocheting, 4-Hers will advance their abilities and create projects they are interested in.
During most of our meetings, we will do a simple yarn craft and then practice what we learn as homework. This is a great way for youth to fellowship, have fun, and socialize!
The club meets at the Union County Ag Center in Monroe, NC every 3rd Friday of the month at 3:30 pm. To learn more about how to participate, contact Leah at union4hncyarnclub@gmail.com.

The Best Blankets! My daughter was immediately attached to hers as a newborn, and after getting Leah to make a smaller version of the same blanket, she now carries BOTH blankets around everywhere! LOL! She doesn't have a care in the world about any other blanket but the 2 that Leah made! They feel amazing!
A perfect gift- Leah Joyner knitted and crochet cloths! I love mine so much, I ordered more! Super soft, dries out overnight on the counter. Best of all... supporting a local crafter.
