Knife Steel Atlas (“the App”) provides information and ratings about knife and blade materials and tools for managing your personal knife collection. This Privacy Policy explains how information may be handled when you use the App.
Information We Collect
Knife Steel Atlas does not require you to create an account and does not directly collect your name, address, phone number, or other personal information through an account system.
The App may use third-party services that automatically collect certain information as described below.
Advertising
Knife Steel Atlas uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may collect or process information such as device identifiers, advertising data, interactions with advertisements, diagnostic information, and other device or usage information.
Where required by applicable law, Knife Steel Atlas uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request or manage consent for advertising and related data processing.
Users may be provided with privacy choices depending on their location and applicable privacy laws.

In-App Purchases
Knife Steel Atlas offers an optional one-time Premium purchase that removes advertisements and unlocks iCloud sync, backups, and Recovery Points. Existing Remove Ads purchasers retain access through the same purchase. Purchases and purchase restoration are processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit.
Knife Steel Atlas does not receive or store your payment card or banking information. Apple handles payment processing according to Apple’s applicable terms and privacy policies.
App Preferences and Local Data
Certain preferences and app state may be stored locally on your device, such as whether certain prompts have previously been shown or requested.
The App’s blade-material reference database is included with the App and can be accessed offline.
Personal Collection and Photos
Your knife collection, photos, notes, purchase details, ownership history, and recorded sales, trades, gifts, and buyer information are stored on your device. Camera and photo access are used when you choose to scan a barcode or box label or add a photo. Box Label text recognition runs on your device.
Optional iCloud Sync and Backups
Premium includes optional iCloud sync and backup features. If you turn on iCloud sync, your personal collection records and photos are stored in your private iCloud database using Apple CloudKit and can sync with your devices using the same Apple Account. Turning sync off stops further syncing but does not delete the collection on your device or the copy already in iCloud. The App provides a separate Delete iCloud Data action with a confirmation explaining its effects.
Full Backup files contain collection data and photos. Data Only files omit photos. Manual backup files are encrypted using Apple CryptoKit; their encryption keys are stored in Apple Keychain and marked for iCloud Keychain synchronization. Restoring on another device requires access to the appropriate key. You choose where to save or share exported backup files.
Recovery Points provide earlier snapshots for restoring collection information; restoring a point may depend on photo files that are still available. Copies of exported files remain wherever you saved or shared them until you delete those copies.
Feedback and Email
Knife Steel Atlas provides options that allow you to create an email to provide feedback, suggest materials or rating changes, report bugs, or suggest features.
The App opens your device’s email application and prepares the message for you. You can review and modify the email before choosing whether to send it.
Information you voluntarily include in an email will be received and used for the purpose of responding to your message or improving Knife Steel Atlas.
Children’s Privacy
Knife Steel Atlas is not designed to collect personal information from children. The App does not provide user accounts, social networking features, or a mechanism for children to directly submit personal information within the App.
Third-Party Services
Knife Steel Atlas may use services provided by:
Google, including Google AdMob and Google User Messaging Platform
Apple, including the App Store, StoreKit, iCloud, CloudKit, and Keychain
These third parties may process information according to their own privacy policies.
Your Privacy Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights or choices concerning the processing of your information for advertising purposes. Where applicable, privacy choices are provided through Google’s consent and privacy tools within the App.
You may also remove advertisements by purchasing the optional Premium feature. You choose whether to enable iCloud sync and where to save or share exported backup files.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as Knife Steel Atlas changes or as legal, platform, or third-party service requirements change. Updates will be reflected by revising the effective date of this policy.
