Sebastiano Nutarelli is a sports physical therapist, biomechanist, researcher, and co-founder of both the Sports Rehab rehabilitation and sports medicine centers, and the European Knee Arthrofibrosis Center/EUKAF in Switzerland. The latter is one of the few specialized centers in Europe, dedicated to the treatment of patients with knee arthrofibrosis.
His particular interest in arthrofibrosis arose from personal experience. Following a complex knee injury, he developed arthrofibrosis and underwent numerous surgical procedures as well as intensive rehabilitation over several years. This journey brought him to renowned orthopedic and sports medicine centers across Europe and the United States and ultimately laid the foundation for one of his current knee specialization.
As part of his education and clinical career, Sebastiano completed observerships and clinical rotations with internationally recognized experts in knee surgery and rehabilitation, including the Cincinnati SportsMedicine & Orthopaedic Center (Dr. Frank Noyes Knee Clinic, USA). Since 2015, he has regularly observed surgical procedures in leading orthopedic centers in Switzerland, Italy, and the United States and has worked closely with knee surgeons from various subspecialties.
In addition to his BSc in Physical Therapy, he holds a Master’s degree in Biomechanics as well as several postgraduate qualifications in Sports Physical Therapy (SUPSI University, Switzerland), Clinical Research Methodology (University of Basel, Switzerland), and Heath Care Statistics (University of Oxford, UK). He is a PhD Candidate at University College Dublin (Ireland) on knee ACL rehabilitation.
Sebastiano is a member of the International Arthrofibrosis Association Board, the SIAGASCOT Sports Medicine Committee, and several other international professional societies in the fields of knee surgery and rehabilitation, and sports medicine. In addition, he works as a clinical researcher at the EOC Orthopaedic and Traumatology Research Unit in Lugano, Switzerland, is the Co-Coordinator of the NAIOMT Research Group in the United States, and the Program Coordinator, Scientific Committee member and Instructor of the the Master's in Clinical & Sports Biomechanics the the University of Camerino, Italy which is issued both in Italian in Camerino, Italy and in English in Milan, Italy.

His primary focus is the development and implementation of evidence-informed treatment strategies for complex post-operative knee conditions, particularly arthrofibrosis, loss of motion, and challenging rehabilitation pathways.
Today, Sebastiano lectures and teaches internationally on topics including knee injuries, arthrofibrosis, lower limb muscle injuries, and overall evidence-informed rehabilitation and injury prevention. His particular strength lies in bridging scientific evidence, clinical practice, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by both patients and healthcare professionals in the management of complex knee conditions.
