Welcome.. This website started as an extension of my YouTube channel, a kind of digital relaxation space where I could experiment without expectations. It gradually grew into a collection of everything I do online with music: listening, sharing, discovering, documenting. Music is the common thread here. Not as a hobby, but as something that runs in my blood.
I am not someone who just listens to music. I feel music. It can cheer me up, calm me down, offer comfort, excite me. Sometimes even all at once. Anyone who views my last.fm profile sees more than fifteen years of "scrobbles" proving that my musical taste goes in all directions: from hard techno to death metal, from obscure electronic music to melodic metal. I jump effortlessly between genres and that is exactly what I like.
Although music has always been present in my life, my own career path was not linear. As a child, I attended the local music school, but life took a different turn and that story ended. The love for music remained, and at sixteen, I got airtime on local radio. That was my way of doing something with music: not by making music myself, but by sharing music. Nowadays, I no longer have fixed broadcast times. The stations are too mainstream but I am still a guest at local stations every now and then. Then I can do my thing: let artists and songs speak for themselves. I am not a top DJ, and I don't have to be. It's about the music, not about me.
Sometimes I use the name Flanders Music Mania. Krrissje is an alternative spelling of Kris, but I don't always feel like putting my name on everything. Flanders refers to the place where I live, and it is a name I am considering for a domain name. It is not a brand, not a project, not a strategy, just a name that fits how I engage with music online. FMM
There is 1 platform that I focus on a bit more and try to do something serious with, but even then that is very modest: They are not going to put a 600+ subscribers account in the newspaper. I am satisfied with it. There are some professionals among them who have already responded approvingly, but growth is slow. Well, It"s fine by me.
Google Translate helps here and there, but you will notice that my native language is Dutch, Flemish to be precise. Photos have not been translated, so you will sometimes see this reflected in small details. This website is a mixture of languages, but the foundation remains: music is universal.
I do not often participate actively, but I support the ideas behind Fediverse: decentralization, freedom, and independence. That aligns with my vision of the internet.
On this website I use buttons, banners and PNG files that I download for free. I try to properly credit the creators via links to Commons.wikimedia or other sources. Sometimes I make buttons myself, sometimes the logos come from software. Do you see something that isn't right? Send me a message. Your work remains your work. All the music here is embedded via platforms such as YouTube, Bandcamp and SoundCloud. I don't upload anything myself; the players hand out their own cookies for statistics.
Feel free to look around. Come back later. There is no strict plan, no roadmap, no strategy. This is a place where music comes in, lingers, and sometimes disappears again. What comes or goes? No idea. That's the fun part.
There's no plan.
