본 학과는 빅데이터(Big Data)와 데이터 분석(Data Analysis) 및 인공지능(Artificial Intelligence)을 중심으로 한 경영학(Business) 특화 전공으로서, 통계학(Statistics), 산업공학(Industrial Engineering), 경영정보시스템(Management Information Systems)을 융합하여 비즈니스 현장 의사결정을 지원하는 빅데이터 활용 도구와 프로세스를 교육한다.

이로써 데이터 분석 기법 연구 및 분석 결과 해석을 통해 비즈니스 현상을 이해하는 분석 경영 전문가(Business Analyst), 모형 설계 및 성능 개선을 통해 비즈니스 최적화(Business Optimization)를 추구하는 데이터 과학자(Data Scientist), 사례 연구 및 도메인 최적화 비즈니스 전략을 수립하여 지식 경영(Knowledge Management)을 실현하는 경영 전략가(Business Strategist) 등의 전문 인력 양성을 목표로 한다.
