I created a Tik Tok account to help create a sense of community and a feeling of belonging with the students even though we are not in the school building.
I grew up in a small town in Northern Minnesota called Hibbing; central on the Iron Range. After graduating from High School, I pursued a community psychology degree from St. Cloud State University where I was fortunate enough to be a Men's Hockey Cheerleader, continuing on with my skating, dance, and cheer endeavors after high school.
In 2016, I had the opportunity to work with the St. Cloud school district on growing their AVID program to work with at risk youth. This experience solidified my decision to pursue a master's degree in School Counseling.
Throughout graduate school, I worked with students at SCSU who were involved in student organizations on executive functioning skills and transition to college, as well as life after leaving University. In April 2018 I had the amazing experience of attending the American Counseling Association conference in Atlanta, Georgia where I was able to learn new techniques and ideas to bring into my career. Interning at Milaca High School and Big Lake Elementary School through 2017-2018, I set out on interviews for a School Counseling positions and was elated when I was offered the School Counseling spot with KMS.
Outside of school, my husband and I are the proud parents of a dog and a cat, and love to fish, hike, and spend as much time outside as possible! I also coach at St. Cloud State University, and volunteer with local habitats for humanity and outreach programs to help those in need.
I truly look forward to year two at KMS High School.
