Brant Speed is an eighth-grade science and gardening teacher at Kealing. He received his bachelor’s in biochemistry from the University of Tampa, where he was a four-year member of both the cross country and track teams. His athletic accomplishments include All-Conference honors in cross country, as well as setting the 1500-meter school record.
After graduating, Mr. Speed continued to help coach his alma mater’s men’s program. It was during this time that he took up cycling as an alternate way to stay in shape. It wasn’t long until he was enamored with both the similarities and differences between cycling and running. Mr. Speed's innate desire for knowing something in an effort to better his ability has helped him to gain a solid understanding of training philosophy. For more than 15 years, he has not only achieved personal success out on the roads, but has also learned from some of the best in the endurance sport industry.
Mr. Speed's goals as cross country coach are to maintain a fun, inclusive atmosphere and build on sound training principles in an effort to help student athletes reach their potential.
