5th graders created this online trail diary in groups of four. This was my first foray into using Wikispaces, which no longer exists.
I once had my students use Wikispaces as a place to showcase their Web 2.0-related assignments. Now, of course, Wikispaces is no more and these links are now nonexistent. Students now store and showcase their work on their Google Drives.

5th grade students learned why we multiply fractions the way we do through this simple lab using scrap paper, a black marker, and crayons.
This Native American beading project connected symmetry and patterns to social studies and art.
This quilting project connected geometry to social studies and art. The quilt was later auctioned off with the proceeds benefitting the school.
Students created catapults in this STEM project. The goal was to keep redesigning the catapult to obtain the furthest projectile distance. The catapult also had to be free-standing where students were only allowed to pull back on the spoon to launch the eraser.
Students used linking cubes and balances to find the LCM of two numbers.
Students went on a circle scavenger hunt around the school. They recorded each circle's circumference and diameter then used that information to discover pi.
