At the current moment, the Kennesaw Mountain High School (KMHS) campus has a problem. There is a stagnant section behind our football stadium between the stadium and some buildings. This has caused a major problem, as the water seeps into the soil, stays there, and raises the height of the ground. Once the soil becomes oversaturated, the water starts to flood the building, causing damage.
We have undertaken the problem of finding and implementing a solution. We are currently working diligently with Georgia officials, local retailers, and partnering clubs to find a solution.
The KMHS Civil Engineering Club has partnered with non-profit Go Ye Ministries (GYM) to help a community in Liberia, Africa by building a primary school. We hope to eventually help the local populace to build a community that is self-sustainable. That is one of the school's top priorities, to teach the members of the community skills necessary to be able to function by itself.
We plan to help by designing the school, all the while considering self-sustaining technologies, using a functional and practical design, and the local environment.
