General Layout of Manhattan plus attactions!
Kansas State University is in the center of Manhattan. The main part of the campus is bounded on the South by Anderson Ave. (Anderson becomes Bluemont further East.) It is bounded to the North by Claflin Ave. (However going further north, one will find the bug museum, the gardens, and the recreational center.) It is bounded on the West by Dennison ave, and bounded on the East by Manhattan ave.
The area southeast of Kansas State University is called Aggiville. It has a large number of restaurants, bars, and shops. The conference hotel is in this area. It is an easy walk from the math department.
The closest food/coffee to the department is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Claflin and Dennison.
The downtown area is about 1.5 miles southeast of the main campus. It is the stretch of Poyntz ave between 6th ave and 3rd ave. It contains a number of places to eat and shops. The east side of this district contains a shopping mall with a theater complex.
