Strength:

• The department has a healthy student:teacher ratio (5:1) which allows to have a good student support and mentoring.

• All the faculties of the department are PhD holders and have inclination towards quality research and publication.

• The department boasts of a sophisticated and spacious laboratory, and a library of its own.

Weakness:

• The department is very new and lacks a separate building.

• Most of the students of the department are first generation learners and are slow to grasp core subject matters. As such the teachers require to devote more time for remedial classes and doubt clearing sessions.

Opportunities:

• There is opportunity in the near future to upgrade the department into a PG Department.

• The department aims to establish a state-of-the-art research facility, first of its kind in the region.

Challenges:

• With all the courses up and running it would be a challenge to overcome workload in terms of number of classes until additional positions are created in the department.
