Jaundice screening is a medical test or assessment done to check for jaundice, a condition where the skin, eyes, or mucous membranes turn yellow due to high levels of bilirubin (a yellow pigment formed when red blood cells break down) in the blood.

It’s commonly done in newborns because their livers are still developing and may not process bilirubin efficiently. However, adults can also be screened if they show symptoms of liver or blood disorders.
