I was born in St. Anthony. I grew up there, and became accustomed to life on the GNP. I grew up swimming, fishing, snowmobiling, with a little local theatre and piano thrown in. Small town living became the norm and I loved it. Even after my time in the city attending university, I knew I wanted to come “home”. I moved back to St. Anthony in 2011 as a registered nurse. I became involved in the community. As a Guide leader, swim coach, and board director of the Boys and Girls club, I realized the importance of sustaining our region for these children to have the opportunity to grow up as I did. So I stepped up! I ran for town council and earned a seat at the table. I took up the fight for issues that mattered to our town and our region. I was part of a great team that secured funding, implemented development and rallied for change. We have made a difference!
Over the past few years it has been my privilege to be part of the Great Northern Peninsula Joint Council, representing the region on several key issues. I have become familiar with the obstacles comminutes in Northern Newfoundland are facing and the challenges that lay ahead. Now, I feel it is time for me to again step up!
I want to apply the same skills and dedication I have shown my community to those in the St. Barbe – L’Anse aux Meadows district. My track record of success is the result of focused commitment - championing a cause and seeing it through to real action, not just making noise.
I have dedicated my life this far to the service of others, and humbly as for your support as I seek to continue to work for the people of the Great Northern Peninsula.
On February 13, 2021 vote Howell for St. Barbe – L’Anse aux Meadows.
