My research interests lie in the broad areas of nanomaterials and biomolecules/biomimetics. Our research group focuses on the development of novel materials for green energy, health and environmental sensing applications. 2-Dimensional nomaterials hold promise for the future and are expected to bring revolutionary changes in many fields, specifically in the area of energy management and biosensing. Development of new materials and use of state of the art technologies is essential to meet the growing energy crisis and global issues like health diagnostics, water purification. For example, development of highly porous (to enhance water-solid interactions), cheaply available materials is essential to provide low energy consumption and low cost, highly purified water to the growing population. I would like to develop a multidisciplinary research program with a central theme of developing hybrid multifunctional nanomaterials and architectures that are key to energy management, biosensing, and environmental protection applications.
