KJJJJJJJJJ (1 “K”, 9 “J”) is an instrumental post-rock band from Buenos Aires, Argentina, known for their intricate compositions, genre-blending sound and absurd name. Since their formation in 2015, the trio—Mariano Membrives (guitar), Nicolás Esparrach (bass), and Lorenzo Schiavo (drums)—has carved out a distinct space in the Argentine and South American underground music landscape.
Blending the odd time signatures and angular riffs of math rock with the expansive atmospheres of post-rock, the structural experimentation of progressive rock, and the raw energy of post-hardcore, KJJJJJJJJJ’s sound defies easy classification. Their music often veers into unexpected territory, incorporating textures and rhythms rooted in South American folklore and moments of improvisation, resulting in compositions that are both cerebral and emotionally charged.
Their self-titled debut, Kjjjjjjjjj (2016), introduced their unique musical vocabulary—a mix of sharp precision and exploratory depth. This was followed by Centro de Dispersión (2020), this time as a four-piece with Juan Manuel Zárraga on keys and synths. A more refined and sonically ambitious effort that showcased the band's evolving sound and growing confidence in their artistic vision. In 2025 the band went back to their original three piece lineup and released their third studio album, Bi Won, further pushing the boundaries of their style, featuring a different textural and rhythmic sophistication. The Clifton / Caribe EP is to be released in 2026.
Beyond their recorded work, KJJJJJJJJJ has become involved in the local music community. They are one of the first bands and founding members of Anomalía Ediciones, a Buenos Aires-based music collective and independent label. Since 2015, Anomalía has become a hub for post rock, math rock, experimental and genre-bending artists from the region, fostering collaboration, dialogue, and the growth of an alternative music ecosystem that challenges the commercial norms of the industry.

Desde su formación en 2015, el trío compuesto por Mariano Membrives (guitarra), Nicolás Esparrach (bajo) y Lorenzo Schiavo (batería) ha logrado ocupar un lugar distintivo dentro de la escena musical underground argentina y sudamericana.
Fusionando los compases irregulares y riffs angulares del math rock con las atmósferas expansivas del post-rock, la experimentación estructural del rock progresivo y la energía cruda del post-hardcore, el sonido de KJJJJJJJJJ desafía cualquier clasificación fácil. Su música frecuentemente se adentra en territorios inesperados, incorporando texturas y ritmos enraizados en el folclore sudamericano, junto con momentos de improvisación, lo que da como resultado composiciones tanto cerebrales como cargadas de emoción.
Su álbum debut homónimo, Kjjjjjjjjj (2016), presentó su singular vocabulario musical: una mezcla de precisión afilada y profundidad exploratoria. Le siguió Centro de Dispersión (2020), esta vez como cuarteto con Juan Manuel Zárraga en teclados y sintetizadores. Un trabajo más refinado y ambicioso desde lo sonoro, que evidenció la evolución del sonido del grupo y su creciente confianza en su visión artística. En 2025, la banda volvió a tocar en formato trio y lanzó su tercer disco de estudio, Bi Won, con el cual llevó aún más lejos los límites de su estilo, incorporando una sofisticación rítmica y textural distinta. Un nuevo EP titulado Clifton / Caribe será lanzado en 2026.
Más allá de sus lanzamientos discográficos, KJJJJJJJJJ ha tenido una participación activa en la comunidad musical local. Son una de las primeras bandas y miembros fundadores de Anomalía Ediciones, un colectivo y sello independiente con base en Buenos Aires. Desde 2015, Anomalía se ha consolidado como un núcleo para artistas de post-rock, math rock, experimental y propuestas que escapan a los géneros tradicionales, fomentando la colaboración, el diálogo y el crecimiento de un ecosistema musical alternativo que desafía las normas comerciales de la industria.
