Privacy Policy for Kiw Reminder users

Thank you for choosing Kiw Reminder. Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what data Kiw Reminder accesses, how it uses that data, and how it stores it.
1. Data You Provide (Stored Locally)
Kiw Reminder is a local-first application. All data you create is stored **only on your device** in a private, secure database.
We, the developer, **do not** collect, see, or upload this data to any server. This data includes:
* Your reminder details (names, notes, dates).
* Your category and warranty information.
* Photos you attach to your reminders.
* Your app settings (like theme preference).
2. Data Collected by Third-Parties (Advertisements)
Kiw Reminder displays ads using our third-party partner, Google AdMob.
AdMob may collect certain technical and usage data to serve, measure, and improve advertising. This may include:
• Device identifiers (e.g., Google Advertising ID)
• Ad interactions (such as views, clicks, and impressions)
• Crash logs and diagnostics from the Google AdMob SDK, used only to improve ad performance and app stability. We do not collect or store these logs ourselves.
This data collection is handled directly by AdMob and subject to Google's privacy policies:

Kiw Reminder does not collect, store, or upload any reminder content such as titles, dates, notes, categories, or attached photos. We also do not access your installed apps, contacts, messages, or personal files.
Kiw Reminder also uses Google Firebase Analytics.
Firebase Analytics collects usage data to help us understand how people use our app.
This data is used solely to improve the user experience and fix bugs.

3. App Permissions Explained
Our app requests certain permissions to work properly. Here is why we need them:
* **Notifications (`POST_NOTIFICATIONS`) & Alarms (`SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM`):** These permissions are **essential** for the app's main purpose. They are needed to schedule and display your reminders at the exact date and time you set.
* **Internet:** This permission is required by Google AdMob to load and show advertisements.
4. Alarm & Background Behavior
Some devices (especially Xiaomi, Redmi, Poco, Oppo, Vivo, Realme) restrict background execution by default.
Kiw Reminder relies on scheduled alarms, so the app may show a pop-up suggesting the user to enable settings like:
Auto Start / Allow Background Run
Allow Alarms & Reminders
Show on Lock Screen / Full-Screen Alert
These settings allow reminders to ring even if the app is closed.
Important:
The app does not change system settings automatically
The app does not collect any background activity or usage data
These settings are purely optional but recommended for reliable alarms
Users always have full control to enable/disable these settings on their own device.
5. Full-Screen Alarm Permission
When a reminder is marked as "Alarm", the app may display a full-screen alert UI so users don’t miss critical reminders.
This appears only when the user enables alarms
It does not access lock screen data or personal information
It never performs actions without user intent
Full-screen mode is used solely to display reminder alerts.
6. Foreground Service & Wake Lock Usage
For alarms that need to ring reliably, the app temporarily runs a foreground service to:
Play alarm sound
Wake the screen
Vibrate if enabled
This ensures reminders trigger even if the device is idle or screen is off.
This service stops automatically after the alarm ends.
We do not run permanent background services or collect usage logs.
7. Vibration Permission
Used only to vibrate during alarms when vibration is enabled in user settings.
We do not access haptic or hardware data beyond triggering vibration.
8. Image Selection & Photo Privacy (Android Photo Picker)
*The app only gets access to the photo you explicitly choose.
*The app cannot view, scan, or access your full photo gallery.
*The app does not require Camera or Storage permissions.
*All photos remain stored locally on your device only.
*We never upload or transmit your photos to any server.
*We do not share your images with any third-party services.
9. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
This app is meant for a general audience and is **not directed at children under the age of 13**. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used this app, please contact us.
10. Data Deletion
Kiw Reminder stores all data locally on your device only. We do not store any data on servers.
To delete your data:
1. Open Kiw Reminder app
2. Go to Settings
3. Tap "Delete All Data"
4. Confirm deletion
Deleting the app from your device will also permanently delete all stored data.
Since no data is stored online, we cannot restore deleted data.
You have full control of your data. You can delete individual reminders at any time. You can use the "Delete All Data" button in the Settings.
11. Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When updates occur, the "Effective Date" will change. We encourage users to review this page occasionally to stay informed about changes
