portraiture for the terrified
It's the process of trying to capture something very specific about your subject, using imperfect and often unpredictable tools: your eyes, your brain, and your fingers.
Drawing the Face classes will be held on Thursday evenings.
Book your spot at the bottom of this page. The human face, perhaps the most elusive of subjects, can be intimidating for someone new to drawing. "Can I capture the likeness? Can I capture anything about the model?"
Can I at least make my drawing look like a human being?
Face your fears during our tutored class aimed at absolute beginners. Anyone can learn to draw - start your journey into drawing this March with our monthly theme of "New beginnings" at kitwit studio.
A professional (clothed) life model will lend us their face for the duration of the class.
We will work primarily with the artist's essentials: charcoal and chalk. All materials are provided.
You will be guided through your drawing to help you improve your technique and develop your personal style.
Prerequisites: None at all. This class is aimed at absolute beginners.
We also welcome people with previous drawing experience wishing to brush up on their skills, or simply to enjoy a tutored class in a relaxed environment.
Aimed at adults, but suitable for people 16 or older.
Tea and biscuits provided.
Each of the four sessions in March will explore the theme of "New beginnings", with a different model each week.
Sign up for multiple sessions if you like, as learning to draw is all about practice!
Disclaimer: We need at least 3 attendees for each session to run this class.
Drawing the Face will run with a minimum of 3 attendees (not including the host), so bring a friend!
