Kitty stores the expenses you enter so the people you split with can see them. It does not run adverts, does not use analytics or tracking software, and does not sell or share your data with anyone for marketing.
Kitty never touches your money. Settling up hands off to your own UPI app, and Kitty only records that you said it happened.
Account: an account identifier, and an email address if you sign up with one. Guest accounts have no email and no name until you add one.
Profile: the display name and UPI ID you choose to enter. Both are optional, and the UPI ID is only used to build a payment link.
Ledger data: group names, the names you give people you add, expense descriptions, amounts, dates, categories and who paid what.
Personal expenses: entries in My spending, which are visible only to you.
No location, no contacts, no photos, no device identifiers for advertising, and no usage analytics are collected.
Everyone in a group can see that group's members, expenses, balances and settlements. That is the point of a shared ledger, so only put things in a group you are willing for that group to read.
Anyone you send an invite link to can join as the person that link names, so treat an invite link like a password and send it directly to the person it is for.
Your personal expenses under My spending are never shown in any group.
Data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore). Google processes it as our infrastructure provider. No other third party receives it.
You can delete your account from the You tab, under Legal and data. This deletes your profile, your personal expenses, and your sign-in account.
Shared group history is not deleted, because it is also other people's financial record: removing your past expenses would silently change what everyone else in that group is owed. Your entries stay, but your name is replaced and your UPI ID is removed, so the group keeps a correct ledger without keeping your details.
If you want a copy of your data, or help with deletion, contact us and we will respond.
Kitty is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who can see it, the updated date at the top of this page changes with it.
Email infotech@hexavo.co.uk and we will get back to you.
