Trickle Down Town

A documentary presented in conjunction with Free Range Films

7 PM, Suquamish United Church of Christ, 18732 Division Ave. NE, Suquamish

To present an up-close look at the homelessness crisis as it is unfolding in Seattle, this documentary features interviews with those who are homeless and those who are working hard to help them, plus visits to such local encampments as Camp Second Chance. Despite the high numbers and many complexities of homelessness, this film closes on a hopeful note by offering practical steps individuals, families, and groups might take to help.

The filmmaker, Tomasz Biernacki, says, “I have discovered that most people have uneducated, knee-jerk reactions and false beliefs…about the homeless. They see the tents, the RVs, the addicted people who have untreated mental and physical health issues, and instead of doing something to help their neighbors, they degrade, cast away, and add insult to injury…. I want people to see that there are concrete, simple steps people can take every day to help the situation…. It’s going to have to be a grassroots effort.”

Screening followed by discussion moderated by Kirsten Jewell,

Housing & Homelessness Program Coordinator at Kitsap County .
