Khonsu Samir was born in a land called Kanitu and is a Ly'hea-Batamn; which in the Kanitueon language literally translates to "merchant dogs". His people come from a long lineage of peddlers, merchants, and travelers and have long believed in the old gods and the old ways of magic. A few years after Khonsu's birth, Kanitu was thrust into the throes of war when the land of Ronima had launched a surprise attack by its tyrannical king. Ronima was a more advanced society, deep in the ways of magitech, quickly toppling Kanitu and taking its men and women as slaves and slaughtering its children. Khonsu was kept hidden away when his parents were forced into slavery with the rest of their people. But, it wasn't long before he was found and forced into slavery as well, serving in the castle specifically.
Growing up, most of Khonsu's slave work consisted of learning and repairing anything magitech related. He was a bright boy and a quick learner, memorizing intricate details and inner workings of many of the Roniman's machines. It fascinated Khonsu and he wanted to eventually build something of his own one day. When he was an older teen, he decided that day would come, and he snuck off with a prized piece of technology, hoping to use it as a starter piece after pilfering many more scraps to come. His plans would turn south when he was accused of stealing and, when found guilty, was thrown into the dungeons. This was not the end of Khonsu, however. He was eventually used as a training dummy for soldiers, where he would learn how to defend himself and even fight back. This new life as a living practice target would go on for years, with Khonsu honing his battle skills both with a short sword and hand to hand combat.
As he grew into an adult, he continued to be kept as this training being, until one day he was invited to the fighting pits, where the king of Ronima would have slaves fight to the death for the entertainment of him and his people. The last man standing would be granted freedom. Khonsu answered the call and was brought in chains to the arena. Using his skills he learned against Roniman guards, he fought against every other Ly'hea-Batamn slave there, slaughtering his way to the top. Once victorious, the king would keep his word, and grant Khonsu his freedom. His freedom came with a heavy heart, knowing he had the blood of his own on his hands now.
Once free, Khonsu would wander for some time, before eventually going back to his roots and starting up a business as a traveling merchant. As his business grew and he collected more wares, so grew his needs to expand to a cart and so forth. He retained a lot of his knowledge on magitech from his youth and eventually gathered enough parts to construct a creature to use for pulling an even bigger cart of wares. He would eventually become a respected traded in the community and known for his more harder to get items that he manages to procure.
Nowadays, along with being a traveling merchant, he secretly is training and funding a sort of resistance against the king of Ronima. His goal is to set the Ly'hea-Batamn people free and eventually restore the land, love, and lore of Kanitu. He knows his ambitions are big, but with enough force, he's confident he can free his people...
Khonsu has most of the appearance of an Egyptian Jackal, albeit with a fluffier tail. His more bold yellow markings were something he was born with but the more faded markings (primarily on his torso and abdomen) are cosmetic; dyed into his fur after his freedom. His eyes are a bright blue and his black hair is held back into braids. His teeth, nose, and paw pads are a golden color. He sports a few different earrings and necklaces and is seen still with his chains of enslavement worn around his wrists and ankles, as well as wrappings. He wears a sort of white robe with a red sash and covers it with a black, tattered cloak.
While his past is rather bleak, Khonsu tries his best to remain optimistic, although realistic. He's seen as a stoic man and even tempered; not much gets under his skin any more. He considers himself a fair trader, while being more focused on lining his own pocket rather than giving to beggars. However, he has been known to trade services for goods once in a while if and when he sits fit. It's a rare occasion, but it does happen. Consider yourself lucky if he decides to take up your offer rather than your coin.
