When our first band in 1983/1984 fizzled I started jamming with my drummers cousin Derrick. Who i remembered asking me about what's gona happen with the band, and I remember saying we are the band, your in the band your in the band! With that said if you are jamming with me YOUR IN THE BAND!

Along with releasing many of my songs I've kept in my vault, I have made several new one for my new album. One of them is in part about someone who recorded me on video, playing riffs and solos I had made up, and them giving them to a band telling me they didn't care what i thought. One of songs did really well , recently (last few years) I have redone it,(ICBM) the riff actually came from a song me and Doug Pellerin use to play live everywhere including gas stations. Surprisingly the original song vocal fit right in, and so i put the actual singer in the first verse. Find it below in my songs. But that song is not the song im talking about, its a new song about writing songs, that become other peoples song i guess and or act thereof. Its almost done, look for it in November/Dec 2025.

. Also videos. Including a flashback to the The infamous Government Cheese Bandits! We went by Crimson Steel,1985-1986, IAN came with that name, I really didn't care it but actually sounds better than bumbling bungholes. I've recreated a song we sort of toyed with. It is a remake of a song we Eddie Ellis, Mike Patton, and Ian, were living in Eddy's basement. Just before heading off to Olympia Washington, its embellishes on some of the things crazy kids did being in teen age bands in the 80s, we did not go threw with some of them though although we talk about them, and even joked about them in the song! Have a listen hope you laugh! I signed with BMI, and am putting out lots of songs I've worked on over the past 40 years. Many finished, making videos for them. Im finishing a song about the end of our Washington adventure with something that happen on the way back to Idaho. I have added a song Me and Eddy wrote on his couch when we lived in Pocatato Idaho, its called Slippen into Metal, he almost slipped it past me singing in one of his other bands, but I recognized the riff in it and then realized what he did, the other guitar player good but plays it different, check it out see what version you like better. I need to re record it as the track are really poor quality, from trying to salvage bad recording. You want to jam in it let me know, where are you??

Also added These Lights cant hide my blues, needs a little more work, but I have so many songs I'm trying to finish, some dating back to 1985, which I hope to release this July. It will have a video too, and depict some our 80s crazy times.
Check out Eminent Arrival solo. Its guitar play threw processors.
Its like Cathedral but with a intergalactic twist. I use different delays simultaneously, and the space ship landing is also delay, I used dd6, and dd7 at the end among others. Part of the technique I use was inspired by Joe Pellerin volume control on cathedral, as in the 80s this was ground breaking stuff, and show was a instrument in perfecting it. Later adding the Steve Vai volume pedal is how i was able to use both and and foot for it.

Looking back I've played with quite a few bands, some of those included, (1) a fly gig (no rehearsal) they didnt even say what music they were gona to play ( for a crowd ) ended up being 2 sets of 40 original songs, and i was even given time for a song of my choice and solo time with some cooool cats, one from Juilliard. After playing with Eddy Ellis and Crimson Steel in Idaho in mid 80s I landed in Fresno California, was jamming with Roddney Honeyman (curothers) and auditioned for his brothers band, which they recorded live recording. Eddy somehow tracked me down, dont know how he always does it, but he sent me a demo of his Hawaii band at the time, they had one Hawaii's Battle of the band, this was mid 80s. I had told him I was coming as was our plan when we had last talked in Idaho before I took off with our roadies brother to Los Angles. All of this between ages 15-16 years old then. There after I went back to Idaho, then down to Texas and lived with my Uncle, went the the Texas Jam in 1985. It wasent till I was 20 years old did I make it to Hawaii, and lived with Eddie in Waikiki. I jammed with a one man band who was a regulars at the Kuhio saloon. We jammed Jonny B Good type tunes, me soling with my 36 fret washburn, playing all the note even.

I have alot of band stories, gigs, writing, what have you to tell. Im going to share them soon so stay tuned, my first band was Alloy with Matt Harris and Matt Hearts, in 83 or 84 ish, the students voted to have my band play instead of the school dance. ( my first paid gig - light show etc) . ( Hawthorne Jr High ) I made use of wrenches and bottles in my playing my inspiration at the time was Hagar, Hendrix, Billy Gibbons, Iomi, Vanhalen, Yngwie Malmsteen, George Lynch and others. The band at the time formed when I met Mat Hearts in Guitar class (Hagarman), and had already been Jamming with Matt Harris, drummer. I had been going out to the black top at school on break taking my guitar and customshop self made amp and would bring wrenches and bottles, the kids would eventually start bringing things for me to use on my guitar. Wasn't long and the principle called me to his office, I though i was in huge trouble. But the hype he got from the kids were as such as he offered me a paid gig to play for our school. The school body voted to instead of the dance have my band play. (1983 -1984 )

My music has always been there for me threw thick and thin, and magic is right at your finger tips, have managed to always keep a guitar, and when i didn't have one, someone would give or loan one to me or my band. Which reminds me about another story of guy who loaned me his guitar, and fast get away car as we nearly escaped from the po po going way toooo fast! not sure what every happened, I left the area my parents stored his guitar, and years later i discovered it in one of their closets. Japanese guitar amazing, has something on it that has not been duplicated in modern guitars. I've kept it a secret.

Although in the beginning we played covers, I had already wrote original songs as kid (lyrics) and sent them away, then again after playing in a couple bands,(lyrics) to Mutt Lange. And there after, wrote many songs you have heard on the radio, in different capacities, some just lyrics, some full songs, others hooks where bands have written additional music around my intro and hook.

Many of which i see as they did great and probably would never been heard, but a couple were just lifted after years of work, i still remember you guys. Beware of little hand held recorders. There eager to steal your works. I spent 2 years working on a song, and a weasel came out of the BC auditorium, and recorded me playing, he wrote verses around my chorus, recorded my song hook and intro their guitar player used for the the solo, it took me forever to figure out who did it, there was only 2 people I let hear it then then and 4 jurors at Cal state Bako. Years later when i seen his face i remembered how and when.

One time i went with one of the Pellerin brothers to Spella-Real Productions (Greg Spellings) recording studio in Bako, and there was an audience there 20 people or so, after Greg let me solo on his guitar, he then threw off the stage after i handed it back to him, he went over to the keyboard and began playing this keyboard riff, i was still on stage, and a one time take recording, i stepped up to the mic which was set up for vocal/synth, one take recording, a song still hear on the radio. I seen him about 6 months later and he asked me if i remembered the song and i said yes. The Band taking credit for the song don't even sound anything like the recording. When it spins on the radio its me and Greg not them. I am sure most people have heard this song, still plays on the radio, grocery stores etc! My guess is his partner sold the song/recording to pay the rent or something??

Here's another, when i was in college in the late 80s studying music, I had a strange follower, at the time i didn't know who he was, well the story goes he following me into the Fine arts music room, and went into the room next to me, i was pissed because i like keep my chops to my self, so he starts playing this acoustic sounding piece and I began drowning him out writing a random yelling threw the walls making up lyrics over his music changing the classical sound adding a minor blues riff, and screaming making up insulting words, what really crazy was, some guy on a up right bass in another practice room started chiming in on my groove, the guy in the practice room next to me (a drummer/went frontman) must of been recording it to remember all of it, It took them serval years to publish but they did the song just like in the practice rooms, the thing is, when all this happen i never seen their faces! I'm sure you have all heard this song I'm talking about! Later on the drummer for the band that produced the song came up to me randomly in Guitar center and ask me about the song singing part of the lyrics, and i said oh one of the songs I wrote at Bakersfield College, then told him how i would do the video.

Here's another, I was living with drummer Doug Pellerin, in the late 80s early 90s, the band Adema had just got signed, doug told me about a band that just got signed that was local to where we lived, so i layed on the floor in his bedroom and did my magic onece again, wrote a song to give them. he said we would go over to the 2 brothers house later that day. On the way we stopped at a drummers studio under the Oak street overpass and I thought this guy was in the band that was getting signed, so I have the song (lyrics) to him instead, but didn't realize until we got to the Adema bands house I had given it to the wrong person. The drummer gave it to the band that made it famous, and it was a hit! Im sure you have heard this song!

Ive written or originated at least 6 other songs that have hit the radio you have heard, going back to 1981 believe it or not, but still looking for that one hit wonder, maybe i have it already just needs some fine tuning, or some killer bass or drums, anyways lets JAM.

Influences

My friends and all musicians! Listen to my tracts you may hear some of my influences. I guess i could go back in time to 1977, Star Wars came out and life was good. My mother got me Piano lessons from a 100 year old lady supposedly famous, or something, and I used to cry because she scared me. I told my mom i don't like her songs, so she ask what do i like. I new that she couldn't possibly know the theme to Star wars, guess what the next lesson she had the score and i was playing it. Over and over finally i made a deal with my mom, if she just got me a guitar she wouldn't have to pay for lessons. Shortly after I got a guitar. Around this time 1978, my friends across the street got all 4 of the Kiss albums, and I practically lived over there playing them over and over, my mom never knew. Me and the Kid J used to Jamm all the time, his brother had a guitar, and occasionally I would make up songs. I have always kept Kiss in my memories, but evolved with the Metal music. Every one back then picked a favorite album, and although I love Ace's Album I gravitated to a more Radioactive sound! Even so like ACE, I have a new song called Snow-blind, it is literally about the time coming back from Washington with Crimson Steel mid 80s. I started out driving they all fell asleep, its was a light snow when I first started driving, but then thickened as I drove and we were going 800 plus miles. Digital equipment has evolved greatly. Im still old school though, I still record on a digital 16 track multi track recorder, on a 32 bit computer. I have integrated new programs into my tool box from 64 bit computers. Much of the sound effects though are old boss effects pedals. For nce, in my Geist solo i combine the boss dd7, dd6,with boss gt10. And same with Eminent Arrival solo, all boss effects, dd6, dd7, gr20. But is really me playing all of it on a guitar. I'm pretty busy at the moment, unless you have better projects as I've tons of songs unfinished or currently publishing many of my songs from over the years. My music history from the beginning. Early 70s took piano lessons in Fresno, Ca. Shortly after pivoted to guitar. Jammed with Kids across the street early age, between 7-10 years old. A lot of faking it but i think we did write some stuff. In 6th grade wrote several songs, lyrics, songs and sent them off to producers, artists, etc. 7th grade began lessons at Scandinavian middle school. Mrs. Porter. 8th grade guitar lessons with Mr. Hagerman Hawthorne middle school, formed band Alloy with Matt Harris, and Matt Hearts. 9th grade guitar Lessons Pocatello High school. Dan Stokes end up being the advanced Guitar teacher, he was a fellow student. But was way more advanced than the teacher and everyone else. Plus he could play all my favorite songs and solos note for note. 10th Grade Pocatello Idaho Dan went back to new York, Did audition for placement and like previous years got my own advanced practice room. Mr. Shneebly Highland Highschool. Dana (Classical Guitar) McClain High school. During these times I lived with Eddy Ellis, Mike Patton, Ion, and played parties and took off to Washington and had some crazy times. After traveling all over back to Los Angeles, Fresno, and Texas, Washington and Oregon, I landed in Sacramento, then caught a ride to Bakersfield California where I started attending Bakersfield College and taking all the music classes. It was much cheaper than git. I took beginning to advanced classical guitar, beginning to advanced classical piano, beginning to advanced music theory, site singing, music appreciation, even classes that were not offered to others, as well as toured with the award winning choir, and won California State Competition. After Bakersfield college I went to CSUB and attended lesson, classes with Mary Osborne, did juries under Doug Davis music director. That is some of it will fill in more as we go.
