Future energy city with integrated power system
Our mission is to realize "future energy city" with integrated power systems. As shown in the figure above, the future energy city is composed of electric vehicle, renewable energy, wireless power transfer, and medium voltage applications. In order to transfer electric energy from an application to another, the voltage levels must be converted appropriately as each application operates at different voltage levels. The power system does the function, becoming the core infrastructure of the future energy city.
Technical requirements for power systems are high efficiency, high power density, and low cost. High efficiency allows us to save electricity energy and operating cost. High power density and low cost allow us to save the initial investment. The integrated power system will have all three requirements, accelerating the realization of the future energy city.
Research strategy
KIPS Lab. has a bottom-up strategy to complete our mission.
A power system is composed of power converters, switching devices, and magnetic devices. We are going to develop targeted strategies to maximize the power density of each components. The targeted strategies will be combined into the power conversion system to maximize the efficiency and power density. AI will help us further optimize to obtain integrated and intelligent power conversion system.
