Activities

Winter sports of all kinds are available here in the Franconia Notch area. Downhill and cross-country skiing are probably the most popular winter pastimes. Snowshoeing, tubing, ice skating, ice climbing, winter hiking, fat biking or just plain relaxing by an open fire with a good book are all available. Cannon Mt Ski Area is visible from our back yard and just 4miles up the road. Other nearby ski areas include Bretton Woods and Loon. The Franconia Cross-Country Center is just 2 miles away and has an extensive trail system throughout the Easton Valley.

In June the towns of Franconia and Sugar Hill are host to the Fields of Lupine Festival, a spectacular show for photographers of all abilities.

In the summer our guests enjoy hiking the nearby mountains, flying from the Franconia Soaring Center, swimming at Echo Lake, exploring Franconia Notch and all it has to offer. There are several golf courses (Sunsethill, Profile Club, Bethlehem CC, Maplewood to name a few)  in the area to test one's skills. Check the Franconia Notch Chamber web site www.franconianotch.org or the White Mountain Attractions www.visitwhitemountains.com for a more complete list of area events.

Biking is a huge summer draw to the area as well. Check with Bob at White Mountain Bike Shop for the latest on the areas road, mountain and gravel conditions. We are 9miles from the Cross New Hampshire Adventure Trail. a bike route that crosses the state and ties into the cross Vermont trail.  See map below for some of the local trails.

Our busiest time is from mid-September to early October when the trees are dressed in a vivid display of color and the hills turn into a rainbow of reds, oranges and yellows. It is a good idea to make reservations early for this time period, and if you can, plan your visit during the week when the roads and restaurants are less crowded.
