The committee envisions an overall timeline for the project of 10 to 15 years from start to completion. The following timeline is broken down into four phases. These phases are a work in progress and the timeline is organic in nature. It will change and progress as we move through each project and each phase. Please check back regularly for updates.
During Phase One of the project, the committee will work to plant the project seeds so that we can move forward with a solid foundation. This phase of the project will be where plans are drawn and groundwork is put into place.
The Kinsman Park Committee is established as a subcommittee of the township and begins holding regular meetings (completed).
Committee agrees to dedicate itself to developing the large area behind the Library where on location of the old school grounds. The project is named Kinsman Green Space (completed).
A survey of the land is done (completed).
The committee meets with gas and electric engineers to see what steps will need to be taken to establish working utilities at the site (complete).
The committee enlists the services of Bart Gilmore who brings the vision of the future of the Green Space to life through a detailed project design and schematic map of the area. Click here to view the project design (completed).
The committee begins fundraising efforts and researching grants and other funding options (on-going).
The committee publishes the www.kinsmangreenspace.org website to keep the public informed about the project and its progress (complete).
The committee begins work on a sign that will be placed at location near the park entrance along route 7 to let people know about the project (on-going).
The committee designs marketing folders and brochures to overview the project.
The committee begins narrowing down projects and honing in to move into phase two (completed).
During Phase Two of the project, the committee will work at nourishing the plans and bringing projects to life. This phase of the project will be where projects and infrastructure begin to take shape and happen.
Public Restrooms--The committee has decided and the Township Trustees have approved to move forward with the first big project of Phase Two, which is to install men's and women's restrooms in the small building that already exists on the property. The cost estimate for the entire project is approximately $20,000. Generous donors have volunteered to supply time, talents, and equipment to help defer costs. To start this project, the committee has agreed to move forward with running gas and sewer lines to the building. This project is on-going.
During Phase Three of the project, the committee will work to grow the Green Space and add recreation and beautification elements.
Installing walking paths, lights, and benches.
Installing a new multipurpose court, amphitheater, and memorial wall.
Beautification by adding trees.
During Phase Four of the project, the committee will work to assure that the Green Space is maintained and is living up to its fullest potential.
