King Sooko is a Nigerian Singer-Songwriter and Music Producer living in Lagos city in Nigeria. Playful yet introspective, his melodic style reflects his love for afro, improvised and instrumental music stemming from African music traditions.
Born and raised in the city of Lagos –home of the legendary sax player and musician FELA KUTI, King Sooko’s role models were Fela Kuti, King Suny Ade, Dr Ebenezer Obey, Sir Victor Uwaifo and Sir Shina Peters.
One of five siblings raised by clergical parents in Lagos, King Sooko found his voice and passion for music both by singing in church, playing musical instruments(Keyboard, Bass Guitar, Drums and Talking Drum to mention a few) and by studying evergreen records at home. Though Sooko’s talent, wisdom, and poise made him something of a surrogate father to a musically gifted boy who lived in his own head. In the early stage of his career, he found a mentor in producer and gospel artist, Okey Sokay who has worked with Sooko ever since.
Since launching his own indie movement The Vibe House in 2020, King Sooko has recorded numerous hit songs in waiting and is currently working on releasing a debut body of work.
“With early steps this well formed, what will the rest of King Sooko’s journey sound like?”.
