1. The First Day of October
It’s the first day of October. I have waited for so long.
To watch my favorite films. To hear my favorite songs.
Yesterday was so hot. The sheets are stained with sweat.
But somewhere close to midnight. The air turned cold and wet.
Tomorrow we’ll have showers. And after that, some more.
The next day we’ll have flurries. Out in the fields of corn.
And it’s a long, cool night. With an open window breeze.
You could sleep for 3o days. As you savor all these dreams.
Hey! Ho! The sun was up before my eyes were closed.
The stores are filled with Pumpkins. And they smell like cinnamon.
There’s an old red truck at city hall. Selling apples once again.
As you pass by thrift store windows. They have things from far and near.
Even the dentists hock candy. The most wonderful time of the year.
The shoppers all wear flannel. With their gloves and stocking caps.
They buy firewood. They buy candles. They buy little cans of gas.
And it’s a long, cool night. With an open window breeze.
You could sleep for 3o days. As you savor all these dreams.
Come On... And dream with me.
Just pick the time and place you want to meet.
Just remember all you’ve seen. And remember all you’ve done.
On this first day of October. We have only just begun.
2. Call the Realtor
I hate the place I live sometimes.
Like when I'm all alone at night.
And footsteps tiptoe down the stairs.
To rearrange my kitchen chairs.
Sleepless nights when gripped by fear.
Are you noticing the things I hear?
I hate when things go bad to worse.
This house is well and truly cursed.
The voices call out night and day.
And somehow each one knows my name.
Sparrows stacked up in the grass...
Grab your suitcases and pack them fast.
I hate when phantoms grab my arms.
I know they mean to do me harm.
There's black and blue and red as proof.
And now I know what I must do.
Call the realtor right away.
Tell him there’s no time to waste.
Hi-dee hi-dee hit the road.
Man it’s time to move on.
Hertie Gertie let’s go.
See you never, so long.
3. The Sound Of Screams
I’ve got skulls in my windows and ghosts in my tree,
Frankenstein’s monster and a fog machine.
The strobe light makes it hard to see, and all you hear is the sound of screams.
I work hard. All month out in the yard.
Getting ready for Halloween.
Scarecrows dressed in orange and green.
Haunted dolls to haunt your dreams.
Chainsaw killers in shredded jeans. The scariest clowns you’ve ever seen.
I work hard. All month out in the yard.
Getting ready for Halloween.
We locked up the werewolf and tossed the key.
So please don’t ask to set him free.
He’s angry ‘cause he’s covered in fleas.
And he’d rather be out on a killing spree.
I work hard. All month in the yard.
Getting it ready for Halloween.
4. Black Cat In The Night
When the sun goes down. And the stars come out.
When the animals howl. And the maniacs shout.
Lock your doors up tight. And turn off your lights.
Find a place to hide. She’s about to strike.
Black cat in the night.
On a quiet street. Lined with great big trees.
She will climb and leap. She will beg and plead.
With her twisted mind. And her yellow eyes.
She will end your life. If she gets inside.
Black cat in the night.
Are you feeling strange? Did you close your shades?
Are your children safe? Or is it too late?
She will scratch and bite. You will try to fight.
You will not survive. She will watch you die.
Black cat in the night.
We will call police. They will bring their priest.
And they’ll both agree. May you rest in peace.
It’s a gruesome sight. Where she chose to dine.
It’s a tragic time. It’s an unsolved crime.
Black cat in the night.
5. The Middle of October
Blood sausage. Blood moon.
Blood oranges. And blood money too.
The last leaf falls from an old oak tree.
The bats are waking up. They’re about to feed.
Black hearses. Black cats.
Black ravens. And black pointed hats.
And there is no moon. But the stars shine bright.
If you hear your name, You will die tonight.
Owls gathered. On the lawn.
Standing watch. From dusk ‘til dawn.
Streetlights flicker. And then go dark.
And you’re not really sure quite where you are (now).
6. Scabs
I don't know how anatomy works, but if you cut me I will cry.
And my skin will slowly heal itself. I don't even have to try.
Scabs. Scabs. Scabs. Everybody. Scabs. Scabs. Scabs. All right!
Misunderstood. But they sure taste good. Scabs. Scabs. Scabs.
My cells don't have to volunteer. They just do what they are told.
Like the sweat on my palms. Or the air in my lungs. Or the shiver when I'm cold.
Scabs. Scabs. Scabs. Everybody. Scabs. Scabs. Scabs. Oh Yeah!
Fun for picking. Great for licking. Scabs. Scabs. Scabs.
So I just keep peeling off my skin. And throwing it out like trash.
I know I'll make more. And I'll never run out. It’s the opposite of cash.
Scabs. Scabs. Scabs. Everybody. Scabs. Scabs. Scabs. Listen Up!
If you go too far, they’ll end up scars. Scabs. Scabs. Scabs.
They’re a sight to see. For people like me. Or anyone that’s alive.
They remind us that we’ve suffered. They remind us we survived.
Scabs. Scabs. Scabs. Everybody. Scabs. Scabs. Scabs. That’s it!
I get obsessed when I get stressed. Scabs. Scabs. Scabs.
7. Chemical Farm
Before they built that chemical farm,
Everyone around here had two arms.
Water tasted better than we’d ever know,
And we sprayed our crops and watched them grow.
Things were great but it couldn’t last.
Mr. Dupont had a mountain of cash.
And he came to town in search of more,
And life was never like before - oh yeah.
The air smelled funny within a year,
But the lawyers told us not to fear.
Men lined up for a job at the plant,
And the things we lost won’t ever come back.
His workers were the first to change in form,
Lind mindless drones, they moved in swarms.
Any whistle blower was tossed in jail,
And the union leaders had monkey tails - oh yeah.
Hard to hide those yellow eyes,
But fat paychecks hushed angry wives,
Until they got a taste for human brains
And Mr. DuPont was the first one claimed.
Now every year on Halloween,
They’re fed a CEO from a claw machine.
Don’t pull too tight on your bootstraps,
Or you might get caught up in their trap- oh yeah.
At the chemical farm.
At the chemical farm.
The kids are being harmed.
At the chemical farm.
8. Mad Man On The Loose
There’s a mad man on the loose.
He has done some awful deeds.
In every town he’s been to there are bodies in the weeds.
No one knows just how he’s traveling…
How he gets from place to place.
All we know is that he always has a mask upon his face.
And he will gladly kill a woman…Just the same as any man.
He will slaughter any animal directly where they stand.
You might see him in an alley…In your yard or on the street.
Don’t expect him to take pity, he kills everyone he meets.
You might think you can outrun him. Many tried that trick before.
He will make you pay for trying and leave you dead outside your door.
On this tragic night of mayhem…When he tortures and he maims.
There is zero rhyme or reason for the victims that he slays.
And the cops, they will pursue him. With their firearms and hounds.
But he’ll just keep adding more names to the growing body count.
Yes I hope that you escape him. And you live to tell the tale.
But don’t think that for one second they will put this man in jail.
‘Cause he’s clever and he’s cunning. And we know he’ll disappear.
But the worst of all these truths is that he comes back every year.
9. House Of A Thousand Fruit Snacks
Well tonight is Halloween and we hittin’ the streets.
Chocolate and sugar are all we want to eat.
Better stay away from the house of a thousand fruit snacks.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
I thought this day came with a guarantee.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
We’ll resort to tricks without good treats.
Yes I’m warning you once that things just might get rough.
The options in your bowl aren’t up to snuff.
If you don’t upgrade then we’ll be coming back.
And you’ll be scraping omelets off your glass.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
They’re tryin’ to ruin the best day of the year.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
We don’t care for hippies ‘round here.
You had your chance, now you must pay the price.
You’ll regret your choices on this night.
And just so you remember my friends and me.
There’s a 6 pack of toilet paper in your tree.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
I don’t think you fully understand.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
Throwing eggs at the fruit snack house.
We’re just doing what the law demands.
10. The Last Day of October
When we hear the church bells chime, we will step into the night.
And move as quickly as we can, To terrorize our fellow man.
Come out if you're not too scared. You're invited to join us if you dare.
The fog will slowly crawl the earth, To hide the frozen blood stained dirt.
The wind will whistle in the trees. The rats will scurry in their leaves.
Come out if you're not too scared. You're invited to join us if you dare.
The sliver stars can hide for now, They're just behind those purple clouds.
There's no sign of that slivered moon, The pouring rain will be here soon.
Come out if you're not too scared. You're invited to join us if you dare.
When lightning tears the sky apart, A thunderclap might stop your heart.
But this is what we've waited for, To stir up trouble door to door.
Come out if you're not too scared. You're invited to join us if you dare.
Keep Vigilant:
1. The First Day of November
Signs are going up all over town.
Halloween is over now and everything's marked down.
November’s here so we are moving on.
Everything must go, so get it ‘for it’s gone. [stop]
Gotta get it ‘for it’s gone.
Get it ‘for its gone.
Before plastic Jesus crashes on your lawn.
Passing up these deals would just be wrong.
So load up your cart before they’re gone.
Everything’s on sale and priced to move.
Skeletons and candy corn and pumpkin candles too.
We’ll ship it to a big warehouse at dawn.
So grab some great big ol’ gravestones for your lawn.
Gotta get ‘em ‘for they’re gone.
Get ‘em ‘for they’re gone.
Mariah Carey wants to sing her song.
Jack and Sally won’t be here for long.
So take ‘em home before they are gone.
2. Costumes Optional
He’s got a strange haircut and a scraggly beard.
And his family thinks his tastes are weird.
But tonight… He can be someone else.
She bought a thrift store dress a size too small.
And she wears it like the belle of the ball.
Yeah tonight… She’s the best version of herself.
I love them just the way they are.
And I hope they never change at all.
You tell stories ‘till we're bored to tears.
But I'm really glad that you're still here.
Yeah tonight… We will give you a pass.
My songs are bad and my voice is rough.
But you make me feel like I'm enough.
So tonight… I will take off my mask.
‘Cuz you love me just the way I am.
And I'll pay you back whenever I can.
None of us feel like we'll ever fit in.
Not even with our so-called friends.
But tonight we can all make believe.
And we'll drown out all those negative thoughts.
With mixed drinks, beers, and candy bars.
We can all soak up this feeling of relief.
You should know I'm singing this song just for you.
And not for all those picture perfect fools.
Some people wear a costume all year round.
And you can't let those folks ever bring you down.
Don't let them bring you down.
Don't let them bring you down.
Don't let them bring you down.
Don't let them bring you down.
3. Every Corpse Needs A Lady
We are nothing more than the sum of our parts.
With a soul buried somewhere in our hearts.
And a conscience in a cranium cell.
On our way up to heaven or down to hell.
Sometimes people get the chance to come back.
We all want more than what we have.
They gave me another stab at life,
And I went looking for a wife.
Every corpse needs a lady.
like a queen needs a king.
Pay no attention to the normies.
This just ain't their thing.
I was walking around like things were grand,
‘Till I turned up on the coroner’s slab.
While the doctor prepped his needle and thread.
And a stranger’s arm and a neighbor’s leg.
Now I’m back and walking on this earth.
And I’m constantly brushing off the dirt.
I can’t think so good or talk quite right.
There’s something off in my mind.
Every corpse needs a lady.
like a queen needs a king.
Pay no attention to the normies.
This just ain't their thing.
We are all gonna die just a little too soon.
I yearned for more and she did too.
Imagine if somehow we never met.
Before our tragic end.
But fate had this fantastic plan.
The beautiful crossing of our paths.
Below the light of a big white moon,
With skin translucent blue.
Every corpse needs a lady.
like a queen needs a king.
Pay no attention to the normies.
This just ain't their thing.
Just like an infant learning to crawl.
I would pull up trees and tear down walls.
Fend off torches and pitchforks.
‘Cuz I found what I’ve been looking for.
I will not give up and I will not flee.
And I know that she would fight for me.
If the world ends up in flames tonight.
It won't keep me from her side.
Every corpse needs a lady.
like a queen needs a king.
Pay no attention to the normies.
This just ain't their thing.
Dop-a-doo-wop baby. We are the living dead.
Frankenstein really saved me. I almost lost my head.
4. Out For Vengeance
With her book of shadows and her dress of black.
They say she lives in a broken down shack.
She's got one good eye and an old gray cat.
She's covered in spiders from her shoes to her hat.
I swear we killed her but she still came back.
And now she's angry and she's on the attack.
Scale of dragon. Eye of newt. Bile from a goat and hemlock root.
Cauldron over flames of blue. Mixing up a potion just for you.
She ain't like the girls in the fairy tales.
With a wart on her nose and long fingernails.
She ain't like the ladies on the silver screen.
Riding on her broom to save Halloween.
She's mad at you and she's mad at me.
She's out for vengeance and she always succeeds.
Scale of dragon. Eye of newt. Bile from a goat and hemlock root.
Cauldron over flames of blue. Mixing up a Potion just for you.
5. Fangs
Weary travelers. Dreary home. Gothic castle. Brick and stone.
Foolish Knocking. Huge mistake.
Worst decision. You could make.
I’ve seen this film before. Get away from that door.
Something magic. In his eyes. Ladies end up. Hypnotized.
Jealous boyfriends. Puffed out chests. Epic Failure. Final Test.
He’s gonna drink your blood. That’s what he does.
Puppet master. Mind control. Never grow up. Don’t get old.
You’re a servant. Just his slave. Hunt all night. Sleep all day.
You’re hanging upside down. Next to the count.
Pointy Canines. Pointy ears. Days and Weeks. Months and years.
Time’s an ocean. Deep and vast. Life was never. Meant to last.
You’ll have to hide and lie. ‘Till the day you die.
Old Van Helsing. He’s a boss. Garlic necklace. Silver cross.
Pick your poison. Choose your fate. Burnt by sunbeams. Wooden Stakes.
Embrace it like a friend. This is the end.
6. Invisible Man
No one seems to see my face. No one knows I’m here.
No one cares if I stay or go. I could disappear.
No respect. No love. No reason to go on.
No family. No friends. To grieve when I am gone.
I’ve become the invisible man.
Some folks want to slip away. That’s their greatest wish.
Seems like I was born to fade. Such a simple trick.
No respect. No love. No reason to go on.
No family. No friends. To grieve when I am gone.
I remain the invisible man.
I will make my getaway.
This will be my great escape.
I will have revenge someday.
Then they will remember my name.
7. party Animals
I can hear them out there howling at the moon.
I could roam the hills ‘till sunrise with you.
Just imagine the adventures we could have.
Running through the forest with our pack.
Just pretend.
Make believe.
Have some laughs.
Pretend you’re free.
And then return.
To normal life.
Go to work.
Nine to five.
And we’ll say farewell to the Party Animals.
Do you like it when you’re scared half to death?
Do you love it when you can’t quite catch your breath?
I just want to get my heartbeat to slow down.
This was fun, but I’m glad it’s over now.
Let’s give in. Just tonight.
Lose control. Lose our minds.
Alphas left. Kappas Right.
We have no choice. The moon decides.
cause we belong with the Party Animals.
8. Fire In The Sky
If you see something strange on a summer night,
At a rather unexpected height,
And there’s no explanation that makes sense,
Don't tell your family or your friends.
They'll lock you up and lose the key.
At least that's what they did to me.
And the walls in here are paper thin.
So I know I’ll never get to leave again.
Well I miss my dog who’s safe at home.
Yeah I wish I’d kept my big trap closed.
So please remember this advice.
And don’t tell a soul about the fire in the sky.
They'll lock you up and lose the key.
At least that's what they did to me.
And the walls in here are paper thin.
So I know I’ll never get to leave again.
I’m never leaving again.
9. Home Invasion
Do you know about Boris the Burglar?
How he drives up and down the coast?
Just looking for a place to terrorize.
On a quiet dead end road.
Going way too fast. He only stops for gas.
Last seen headed West. He left an awful mess.
I have read he has a partner. Some guy called Switchblade Stan.
He's wanted for murder in 13 states. And he drives a big white van.
Going way too fast. They only stop for gas.
Last seen headed south. They may have changed their route.
Have you heard about their scheming? All their tricks to get inside.
The next thing you know your husband's dead, And your hands and feet are tied.
Going way too fast. They only stop for gas.
Last seen headed East. Will wonders never cease?
And they say there is no pattern. To predict what they'll do next.
They could show up any time or place, On some nice suburban steps.
Going way too fast. They only stop for gas.
Last seen headed north. The path goes back and forth.
So I guess we better lock our doors. And shut the windows tight.
Cuz I saw a van pull up just now. And shut off all their lights.
10. Another Zombie Song
This is just another zombie song.
Most the ones you’ve heard have been too long.
This one tries to cut right to the chase.
This one tries to liven up the pace.
This is just another zombie tune.
Written to remind you that we’re doomed.
We’re outnumbered 99 to one.
They’ve got something evil in their blood.
Down these streets and down these alleyways.
They’ll be out to feast upon our brains.
Nothing new, just standard undead stuff.
That’s why we’re about to wrap this up.
We’ve got just a couple lines to go.
Everybody’s ready to go home.
Getting sick of clothes and tired of shoes.
This crowd bites and dang these mothers chew.
Keep that shotgun loaded at all times. (Drive fast. Take chances and do crime.)
Keep awake and try to keep alive. (Don’t let the moment pass you by.)
Keep your peepers peeled for strange events. (Kick down the door and jump the fence.)
Do your best to keep vigilant.
