Teams Consist of 5 people no more. A team of 3 still has to pay $50.

Rule number 1: Don’t be an idiot.

Racial slurs will not be allowed. Sexual names and innuendos will be reviewed.

Rule changes:

-Job Rule: They have 5 min before their scheduled shift and 5 min after their scheduled shift. If they are to be released sooner then they have 5 min once they step outside of their work.

-YoungLife is only safe on the property of the person hosting, this includes the driveway. If a person shoots off of the property, then they become able to be shot/ fair game. They have 15 min before and after to get on and off the property.

-Both teams can agree upon special modifications and let the mediators know before the start of the week. (Allowing electric guns, swords only, etc.)

-Any school grounds is off limits no matter the school.

-Team dinners at peoples houses are only safe on their property (the same as younglife rule).

-Evolution: Inside is off limits, and if you shoot from outside to inside and disrupt, you may face consequences of the trainers there. A person from inside of evolution is not able to shoot outside. They have 5 min before their workout is scheduled and 5 once they are released.

I. Dart Wars is not and shall never be associated with the Kings School District. Kings Schools is not connected to Dart Wars.

II. The Dart Wars season begins at 12:00:01 A.M. April 6th.

III. All current high school students from Kings High School are eligible for participation.

IV. The Dart Wars season is segmented into rounds. Each round lasts one week, beginning at midnight on Monday (Sunday night) and ending 12 A.M. of the following Sunday (Saturday night).

V. Teams consist of five people per team. Each team must fill out the required sign-up sheets and HAVE THEIR PARENTS SIGN THEM then turn in the required money by FRIDAY, March 27th by 2:28 in order to be eligible. No person may be on more than one team at the same time.

VI. Each round, each remaining team faces off against one other remaining team. Whichever team has more players remaining at the end of the week advances to the next round.

VII. If the two teams are tied at the end of the round, a shootout will be held on the following Sunday (see section IV on shootouts).

VIII. In the event that there are an odd number of teams at the beginning of any round due to elimination, a team eliminated in the previous round will be raffled back in.

IX. Dart Wars is a game. It is meant to be enjoyed. Be honest. If you get shot, have some integrity and accept it. Do not be a douche and take the game too seriously.

X. Dart Wars rules may change suddenly, and without notice, and in signing the form you are acknowledging and agreeing to this fact. We will not screw anyone over, but occasionally rules may be misinterpreted and it is the mediators right to rewrite the rule. This also includes that in the case of a dispute where the two teams refuse to come to an agreement, the mediators reserve the right to make a final call. As well as it may be necessary for one rule to be overruled or more heavily enforced than another--such as in the case of the importance of not bringing a dart wars related item onto school grounds over some possible dispute.

XI. Also, note that parents are subject to the rules of dart wars. This is the easiest way to make everything involving parents fair. If parents break the rules, it will be treated as though you broke the rules. We realize you can’t necessarily control your parents, but neither can your opponents nor the mediators either. If any player’s parents become too hostile towards Dart Wars over something stupid, that player may be removed from the game for its greater good. This is, of course, up to mediator decision.

II. Equipment

I. The only valid Dart Wars projectile is a dart. No balls, no rings, and no discs. Larger arrow darts and the large "missile" darts are allowed.

II. Darts can be either store bought or made. If darts are made or modified, the only materials allowed are tape, glue, foam, and rubber. Any darts with additional elements, such as metal, cause the entire team using them to be disqualified. (You’re just sick...)

III. Darts must be propelled by a dart gun or a blowpipe. Darts cannot be thrown. Throwing a dart does not count as a kill and results in you looking very, very stupid.

IV. Dart guns can be modified. Modified guns are subject to a mediator's inspection and possible banning of that gun. Any team/person modifying guns to the point where they are no longer acceptable to mediators then must use only store bought, unmodified guns, and blowpipes.

V. Blowpipes must be powered by a player's breath. No pressurization of a player's breath is allowed, and all blow pipes must be powered/fired directly from the mouth of the player firing the gun. Basically, no compressed air.

III. Melee Weapons

I. Store bought pool noodles (3 ft. Length Max) and store bought Nerf swords (4.5ft Vendetta Sword is ILLEGAL!), AND NEWLY Light Sabers (Darth Maul Saber is ILLEGAL) are the only acceptable melee weapons (Other foam noodles are up to mediator discretion but should be fine as long as they meet all other requirements) Also no modifying, reinforcing, or otherwise changing the sword/pool noodle with anything potentially dangerous in any way. So no metal, PVC, nails, or any other sort of caveman-like monstrosity is permitted. Melee weapons must be held in hand when being used to earn a kill. Melee weapons cannot serve as a barrier or shield in any form, or at any time. If your melee weapon is hit by a dart while in use, you are out. Making a large wall of pool noodles will not only make you a larger target, but you will also make you look like an idiot. In the case of noodle vs. noodle combat a player is only out if is hit in the body or something on his body other than the noodle.

If you have not already bought Dart Wars equipment, good luck.

IV. Shooting/Playing

I. A shot player may not interfere with the game. He or she may not act as a shot “blocker” and may not interfere with the opposite team (i.e. holding an opponent down, etc.). Shot players are allowed to act as decoys, drivers, information gatherers, or personal photographers. Shot players cannot car block or body block.

II. If a dart ricochets off of anything it is dead. If two players shoot each other at the same time, regardless of which dart hits first, the players are either both in, both out, or agree to a shootout.

III. Blocking Darts: A person is shot if any part of their body or clothing is hit by a dart. Also, players may not block shots. If a player blocks a shot with any object (blanket, backpack, hat, Frisbee, etc.) that person has been shot. Large objects, such as cars, trees, houses, and fat chicks, obviously do not count. If a person is hiding behind/touching a large object when that large object is shot, the person is clearly not out. Other people, such as brothers or friends, also cannot block.

V. Shootouts

I If at the end of a round both teams are even in strength (same number of remaining players), a shootout occurs.

II. Shootouts must be on the Sunday of that week. If all players in the shootout cannot make it to the shootout within 20 minutes of the set time, your team will be forced to play man down.

III. Shootouts will primarily take place at Landen Park. Spectators are encouraged.

IV. Shootout times are to be agreed upon by both teams. Once a suitable time is decided, one person should alert the mediators with the teams' names and the scheduled time. If any time is fine, tell the mediators and make our lives easier.

V. All dart guns legal in the game are legal in shootouts.

vi. At least two mediators must be present at the shootout. If two mediators can’t make it, two mediator pro temps will be appointed by the mediators.

VII. The shootouts will have set boundaries. Leaving the boundary results in disqualification.

VIII. Any disputes including “kill disputes” if not resolved by the teams will be under mediator's decision: WHICH IS FINAL.

IX. A shootout consists of two teams playing 5v5 (unless less than 5 players is agreed upon by both teams) until one team has shot everyone on the opposing team. Shootouts are best 2 out of 3 rounds.

X. After each round, both teams will be allowed to recollect their darts if they are labeled. Label your darts.

VI. Reporting Kills

I. Once someone is shot, the kill must be agreed upon by both players (shooter and shootee) immediately.

II. The shooter is responsible for reporting the kill to the mediators via text or call.

III. Disputes should be settled before kill is reported. Disputes are not meant to be handled by the mediators and if the players cannot agree upon a solution, all players disputing may be disqualified. A mediator will make the decision if the dispute continues. All decisions made by mediators are final. Be honest and don’t excessively call the mediators.

VII. Cars

I. Cars are not considered off-limits. If a person’s car window is down, he can be shot. You are able to open people's doors to shoot them. If a person doesn't lock their door then they are stupid. You are able to hide in their car if them door is unlocked.

II. Players are allowed to stand, crouch, kneel, and/or hide in an opposing player's truck bed.

III. Car Blocking: Players are no longer allowed to block off streets, cul-de-sacs, or homes with their cars. You must be able to provide proof of the block with either a picture, or ideally a video of the blocking. Refusing to move out of the way of any motor vehicle or refusing to move from blocking off the way to any street, home, or cul-de-sac for any period of time greater than 5 minutes is considered blocking, and will result in disqualification, if a parent is driving a player must be in the car that is blocking and they must be in the game not killed. You must also move out of the way for any car that is not playing.. However body blocking - or blocking a car with your body - is allowed for up to 20 minutes. After this time you must let them go to where they please and you may not block them again for at least 10 minutes. If the opposing team tries to shoot you when you are leaving the block (only when forced to leave after the 20 minutes) you may run back and block again for 20 more minutes. A player body blocking the opposing team counts as a team block. You cannot block for 20 minutes per player. Do not block a busy road or any main road that may cause uninvolved people to call the cops or get angry for any reason. Shot players cannot car block or body block. Players are responsible for parents actions.

IV. Hitting any car or person blocking you with your car to get them to move is illegal. The driver of the car is considered dead for that round. (Even if said driver is a parent).

V. Only players on the opposing team of the blockees may block. For example, no parents, siblings, or, in theory... pets too fat to move may be used to aid in blocking.

VI. Players can shoot and kill opponents from a moving vehicle, but only the passengers are allowed to shoot from a moving vehicle. This is only allowed on non-busy roads, and only if the car is going a reasonable speed. Basically, don’t be an idiot. The driver can shoot only if the car is parked.

VII. If you are going to body block a car, don't jump in front of it like a fucking idiot. Use some common sense, if they're going over 5 mph you probably shouldn't jump in front of them.

VIII. You are no longer allowed to shoot at any moving car on a main road. Use some common sense. Don't be stupid. If it has any chance of being dangerous, DON'T DO IT!

VIII. Location of Kills

I. Players cannot be shot on any school grounds, period, at any time or under any circumstance (this includes the parking lot, sports fields, and other districts schools...even elementary). If there is a questionable event or location, please ask. Young Life is also safe, to be safe at Young Life one must be on the property where Young life is held. The driveway is considered property. This same rule applies to any graduation parties. We want this game to be fun, not take away from the graduation experience for seniors and their families.

II. No guns, darts, or PVC pipes can be taken on school grounds. Stay away from the school, for the love of God. Any players caught (by any school staff) with Dart Wars equipment on school grounds are disqualified (yes, we know, everyone keeps a pipe or gun in their car/locker just don’t be stupid about it, we don’t need the administration yelling at us for having guns at school. Just cover the gun with a sweatshirt, keep it in your trunk, somewhere where a picture cannot be taken of it.) Don’t take your pipes into locker rooms with you, there is no reason to do it, and it’s pretty easy to get caught by school admin.

III. Players also cannot be shot at any school event.

IV. Players cannot be shot if they are at the place of their school sport/team practice up to 15 minutes before the scheduled time and up to 15 minutes after the scheduled time (for events off school grounds) (this applies to Young Life). This means you need to be on the field to be safe, this includes the grass or other area that surrounds your field or court, not on the parking lot. If a person is at work, he is also off-limits. If required to leave school grounds for a school sport at the order of a coach, you are immune. **This includes baseball players walking through Kings Mills to KEC and track athletes being told to run off of school property. Basically any time during a school sport event = immunity**Rec sports practices (including voice lessons, musical rehearsals, etc) are also off-limits.

V. For work the player is immune 5 minutes before and after their shift. Once clocked in if the player has to go outside for work purposes only they are still considered immune. However if they go outside solely to attempt to shoot a player on the other team they are no longer immune until back inside. They are immune if they shoot you while they are outside WHILE doing work. Once clocked out, a player is only immune for 5 minutes.

V. A person at a place of immunity is still able to shoot an opponent even though the opponent cannot shoot him. This is true for everywhere but school/school related functions, including sports practices (and therefore off-limits to bring dart wars paraphernalia).

VI. Players are not allowed to be shot at horse barns or places with potentially dangerous large animals.

VII. Also, churches or any other place of worship are all off limits including the parking lot.

VIII. The entire day of Prom is safe for everyone. The round on the week of Prom will end that Friday night. Prom should be enjoyable and stress free.

IX. Since many students park on Walnut Street during school, the entire street is off limits. This is the street behind the band practice fields. It is the only street in Kings Mills that is safe **This is a change from the second half of last year** If there isn’t enough space everyone to park on that street, get there earlier or think of something clever.

X. Bus stops are safe zones 15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time and (when dropping off a student) the student has 5 min of immunity. This is to ensure that the game doesn’t interfere with the state’s bus safety laws.

XI. College campuses are only safe if you are there for a Kings sporting event (i.e. baseball team plays at xavier every year) or if you are invited by the college to attend a sporting event/college visit as an athlete. If you are just on a regular college visit, you are allowed to be shot.

IX. Extras

I. Staking Out: Any place where an opponent may be can be staked out. There is no time limit on stakeouts. Stakeouts should be legitimate. Google Earth can be a great resource to strategically plan.

II. Outside Contact: If any parent, police officer, store owner, or administrator, calls the mediators on your behalf, you are disqualified. If you have done anything stupid enough to warrant a police officer calling, you’re probably disqualified anyway and you should be ashamed of yourself. Don’t be stupid.

II. If you get the cops called on you by a parent of the other team, the kid of the parent is DQ. But if another source calls the cops because of you, then uou are DQ. ALSO, if parents do something to try and make you leave it is fine.

II. If you are at anybody's house, and their parents break the rules then you are out.

II. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS PARENTS

III. Late Arrival: Seniors with late arrival cannot hinder an opponent from arriving at school on time. It would be simply unfair and would get us bothered by the administration. Players that do not have late arrival can block players from arriving at school on time; however Dart Wars should not be your excuse to be late to school. If you are late, deal with it.

IV. Stealing: Taking any object from another player results in immediate disqualification. This includes darts (but only if they are labeled by the team). If a person runs off without some object, such as darts or pants, you must take measures to return the objects to the player without being an asshole and trying to get them out in the process.

V. Vandalism: Vandalism = Disqualification…

VI. The Thong Rule: This rule is disgusting (sometimes hot), tasteless, and arguably the best rule in Dart Wars history. The rule is that any player who is dressed in only a thong is invincible and cannot be shot. This must be a thong. Rolled up boxers/shorts/hammer pants do not count. Because of many complaints by female participants, in addition to wearing a thong the player may also wear a skin tight tee with cut off sleeves and the bottom cut off so it is above the belly button (or a bra, this is for females only). A player making use of the thong rule cannot shoot any other players. An invincible player can also be wearing socks, shoes, and jewelry and holding their keys, phone, and wallet. Invincible players cannot be holding anything, including a dart gun or clothing, but can drag their belongings with them using a rope/belt/cord/hammer pants. A player in nothing but a thong cannot pick up his or her dart gun and just shoot someone. The player must also be wearing at least one other article of clothing in order to shoot. Hats, scarves, and body chocolate are not considered legitimate clothing. Be smart when using this rule. Don’t get arrested using this rule. You will look like a retard-But you will also go down in history.

VIII. Roof Sitting: Players may stake out on their own roof, or the roof of someone else (such as a target's neighbor's roof) but only when expressed written consent has been given by the owner of the home. Someone's 6 year old sister is not good enough; it must be the owner of the house.

IX. Out of Town rule: If a player is out of town for more than three days, that player will be considered out/dead for the rest of that round. It is simply unfair to have a player who cannot be shot "playing" for half or more of the week. If a player is unable to attend the shootout on Sunday. Sucks to Suck.

X. Substitutions: No player can play for two teams at a time. A team may sub but, the player has to pay an extra admission fee to play.

XI. No shooting people at hospitals or anything medically related.

XII. Deals can be made on safe zones or other things for whatever random necessary reason. Don’t try to be an asshole if you make a deal. Talk to the mediators if this comes up and you have a question. If a deal is made both teams must confirm this with the mediators (preferably the captains). This involves special modifications, like swords only or ...

XIII. Decoys may be used in Dart Wars. They can have a pipe, but may not, in any circumstance shoot a dart at or in the vicinity of another team.

XIV. Garages are completely off limits, you can mess with a garage senor for as long as you want but you cannot place anything in front of it to prevent the garage from closing.

X. Mediators

I. Each year, legitimate mediators must be selected by the mediators of the previous year. Factors to consider are number of years in Dart Wars, how responsible they are, how trustworthy they are, and how noble their blood is.

II. There must be at least two mediators and no more than five mediators each year. At least one mediator must be an underclassman in order to pass the tradition on.

III. If a mediator is being a douche baggy tyrant, it is the responsibility of his fellow mediators to depose him.

VI. There has never been a female mediator. This is not a rule, just an observation, but there probably never will be.

VII. It is not the responsibility of the mediators to resolve issues between players. Do not call a mediator to ask an "I shot him, and he shot me..." type question, call us to ask us "Is it legal to..." Asking us questions about a problem that is between two players will result in mediators being annoyed and hanging up on you.

VIII. MEDIATORS MUST CHECK WITH ALL MEDIATORS BEFORE FINALIZING A DECISION.

IX. If all other mediators deem a specific mediator corrupt, he or she will be removed from the game and their title will be given to another player; this is up to the other mediators’ discretion.

XI. If numbers allow, a mediator is randomly assigned to each region of the bracket. You are required to only talk to your assigned mediator with disputes. Mediators will be in communication with the Head Mediator before any decision is final. If you can't get a hold of yours, then contact the HM.

XII. If a there is a dispute between a mediators team, the mediator on that team will not be able to vote on the issue. Also, a mediator obviously can not be assigned to mediate the section of the bracket their team is playing on. These are just precautions, anyone worthy of being chosen as a mediator is probably honest enough to not do these things anyway.
