These two products solve completely different problems, and confusing their intended applications will lead to frustration. One is built for maximum load capacity on specific factory rails, while the other prioritizes adaptability on roofs that lack any existing structure.
• VULIXYUAN Roof Rack Cross: Designed exclusively for bare-roof Kia Sportages (2017–2022), featuring a unique sliding position design to customize cargo spacing; however, it relies on clamp-style hooks rather than a rail-mounted system and does not specify a high weight limit like the KINGGERI.
• Best for truck/SUV owners who already have side rails and need to haul heavy gear safely is the KINGGERI.
• Best for SUV owners with a smooth, rail-less roof who need flexible positioning is the VULIXYUAN.
If you own a 2020 through 2027 model in any trim level—from the Base up to the King Ranch or Timberline—this rack is designed to bolt directly into that existing infrastructure. The defining feature here is the stated 330-pound maximum load capacity. That is a significant number that suggests this unit is meant for heavy-duty scenarios, whether you are transporting large camping equipment, bulky luggage for a family road trip, or even larger recreational items that lighter racks simply cannot support.
Construction-wise, this product leans heavily on durability. The bars and brackets are crafted from high-grade aluminum, which contributes to both security and longevity. Unlike cheaper plastic alternatives, this metal construction feels substantial. The clamping design is described as "heavy-duty," ensuring that once you fasten it to the vehicle's side rails, it stays put. Security is also addressed through an upgraded metal mechanism lock system, which adds a layer of anti-theft protection that many standard crossbars lack. You aren't just carrying cargo; you are locking it down against prying hands.
For the everyday user, the aerodynamic profile is a welcome addition. The design explicitly aims to reduce wind resistance and noise, which is crucial when driving at highway speeds with a loaded roof. A rattling rack can turn a pleasant drive into a noisy ordeal, but the KINGGERI attempts to minimize that emission. Furthermore, the inclusion of tie-down loops on all four brackets provides practical utility. Installation is straightforward, with labeled front and back bars and necessary tools included, making it a reliable choice for the truck owner who needs a permanent, robust setup.
However, this product is not a universal fit. It requires raised side rails. If your vehicle has a bare roof, this rack is useless to you. It also lacks the ability to slide or adjust its width significantly beyond its fixed assembly, meaning you must be comfortable with the distance between the bars as manufactured. It is a specialized tool for a specific job, and that specialization is its greatest strength.

In stark contrast, the VULIXYUAN Roof Rack Cross is built for a completely different architectural challenge: the bare roof. This system is compatible only with the Kia Sportage models from 2017 through 2022, specifically the LX trim, and only if the vehicle lacks factory-installed side rails. If your Sportage has a smooth, flat top, this is the solution you are looking for. The core innovation here is the sliding adjustment design. Because there are no fixed rails to clamp onto, the mounting hooks allow you to position the crossbars at various points along the roofline. This flexibility is invaluable for accommodating different sizes of cargo carriers, rooftop tents, or bike racks, allowing you to center the load perfectly regardless of what you are carrying.
The material choice aligns with the need for a lightweight yet sturdy platform. Made from aluminum alloy, the bars are rust-resistant, which is essential for a product that sits exposed to the elements and is mounted via hooks that grip the metal of the car door frames. The installation process emphasizes safety and ease, utilizing multiple mounting hooks paired with protective pads. This ensures that the rack grips the vehicle securely without scratching or damaging the paintwork, a common concern for owners of bare-roof vehicles. The design supports a variety of cargo types, from bags to rigid carriers, making it a versatile companion for weekend getaways.
This system is ideal for the driver who doesn't want to drill holes or commit to a fixed width. The ability to slide the bars means you can widen the stance for a large cargo box or narrow it for a single backpack. It transforms a smooth roof into a functional platform without altering the vehicle permanently. However, because it relies on hook-based mounting rather than a rail-integrated system, the stability dynamics are different. It is optimized for convenience and adaptability rather than the extreme weight limits seen in rail-mounted systems. It is the go-to for the owner who needs a temporary or semi-permanent solution that can move with their changing cargo needs.
• Best for Bare Roofs: If your vehicle lacks side rails, the VULIXYUAN is the only viable option, as the KINGGERI physically cannot attach.
• Best for Adjustability: The VULIXYUAN wins here with its sliding position design, allowing you to shift the bar location to match your specific cargo footprint.
• Best for Security: The KINGGERI offers a dedicated metal lock mechanism, providing superior theft deterrence compared to standard hook setups.
• Best for Wind Noise Reduction: The KINGGERI features an explicit aerodynamic design aimed at minimizing high-speed noise, whereas the VULIXYUAN focuses on structural fitment.
• Best for Tie-Down Versatility: The KINGGERI includes four dedicated tie-down loops, making it easier to strap down irregularly shaped items without additional hardware.
• Best for Quick Re-positioning: The VULIXYUAN allows for easy repositioning of the bars without full removal, saving time when switching between different gear setups.
• Best for Long-Term Durability Claims: Both use aluminum, but the KINGGERI specifies a 2-year warranty commitment, offering added peace of mind for long-term ownership.
As someone who analyzes these specs to help buyers avoid costly mistakes, I see a clear divide. Conversely, if you drive a bare-roof Kia Sportage, the VULIXYUAN is your only path forward, and its sliding feature makes it a surprisingly capable tool for that specific chassis. I would personally buy the KINGGERI for my own heavy hauling needs because the combination of high weight capacity and anti-theft locking gives me confidence that my gear is safe. However, I recognize that for the bare-roof demographic, the VULIXYUAN fills a critical gap that few other products address.
No. The KINGGERI is strictly for Ford Explorers (2020–2027) with raised rails, while the VULIXYUAN fits only Kia Sportages (2017–2022) with bare roofs. Always check your vehicle's roof configuration before purchasing.
The VULIXYUAN sheet does not list a specific maximum weight limit, focusing instead on its adjustable sliding design for lighter cargo carriers.
Neither product requires drilling. The KINGGERI clamps onto existing raised rails, and the VULIXYUAN uses non-drilling mounting hooks with protective pads to secure itself to the bare roof frame.
The KINGGERI explicitly mentions an aerodynamic design to reduce wind resistance and noise at high speeds.
