"King of Hearts" is a song recorded by American singer Cassie. It was written by Jay Singh, John J. Conte Jr. and Raelene Arreguin.[2] "King of Hearts" is an uptempo electronic dance song that features jungle beats and escalating synths. The song is lyrically centered on the theme of seduction. Music critics praised it for the musical structure, many writing that it differs from most dance-pop music on the radio.

Recording sessions for the album took place at Doppler Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, No Excuses Studio in Santa Monica, California, Record Plant in Hollywood, California, and Setai Recording Studios in Miami, Florida.[4] Polow da Don served as the album's executive producer and produced or co-produced all of its songs, managing sessions with background singers and horn and string sections.[1] In an interview for Billboard, he said of his role on the album, "I promised [Lloyd] my full dedication. The King of Hearts is the consort of the Queen of Hearts, and, unlike most instances, is generally the lesser of the two monarchs, as he holds less authority than the Queen. He is much smaller than his wife, as well as meeker.
