The video is my favourite for many reasons. I love challenges and it was a challenge on many levels. It had a low budget, it required an intriguing creative concept and after being out of the UK for nearly ten years I had to prove to myself that I felt I could still cut it in an industry where someone of my age would be politely shoved under the rug,vacuumed up and gently emptied into the trash can.

It all started in December 2015 when I returned to the UK after eight years of living and working in Canada. I was chatting over a few 15 year old Eldorado rums with Caspa and he explained his upcoming project 'Vibrations' and asked if I would be up for doing a video to one of the tracks. ANSWER - YES! He sent four tracks and I initially wrote a pitch idea for each one. We discussed the merits of each and hatched a plan for the summer. However in the spring of 2016 Caspa became booked up and had to globe trot around doing what he does best and putting on some great live sets with has partner in crime Rusko. Then the summer came and Caspa's wife had their baby girl. Dah! So inevitably that project was further delayed.

A young eccentric female, with a quirky dress sense. Steam punk style goggles, long socks, a long haired jacket, fingerless gloves and boots. It was interesting ordering the items online, The gloves were hand made by a lady in Turkey. The hooped socks from Japan. A TuTu skirt from Scotland. And even a pair of hand made, recycled hip shorts from California. ( These were not used as the Tutu came out tops in the wardrobe dressings). Thermal undergarments were also required as it was January and bloody cold.

We shot some tests for the scream shot and the 'Head in a box' composite. All on an iPhone 6+. I wanted to see if the hair could be as wild as I wanted and if I could do the tracking for the eyes in AE from a handheld shot I would not have an issue with the recording on my GH4 at 4K. Both tests proved positive.

The shoot took place over a four day period during and it was wet and damp as well as zero degrees when filming the interiors and cold but clear or foggy for the exteriors so we lucked out with the weather. Using my trusty GH4, Voigtlander prime lenses that have been adapted for filmmaking and follow focus units.

Caspa wanted intense and so in the edit it was a case of working the cuts into a rhythm that reflected the quick snare breaks. I arrived at the first cut and Caspa approved it but wanted some changes and to ramp up the intensity. He also made me aware of some of the effects in the track that I hadn't really noticed in the mix I had.

(The box was an old wooden box, about sixty years old and had previously housed an old Russian stereo microscope). I cut the slit in the box and framed a piece of green screen clothe to the slit so as I had the option to key out the colour or track matt the slit. Many shots had movement from the box itself or from the camera so tracking markers where required to help me track the area in post.

I remember looking over the campus from my seat and realizing just how incredible I was to have perfected the nine-minute speed walk from Kable to Pearce, which included a slide down the dirt path near the security house.
