Live Theater. Rich Musical Space. Local Art.
The Music Ministry
Under the leadership of our Minister of Music, Chris McManus, King Avenue’s music ministry offers a rich and engaging worship experience rooted in excellence, creativity, and community. Chris holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education from Capital University and completed additional studies at Methodist Theological School in Ohio, Wesley Seminary, and Westminster Choir College while earning his Certification in Music Ministry in 2019. A retired elementary music specialist from Dublin City Schools, Chris brings both deep musical expertise and a passion for nurturing musicians of all experience levels.
Music at King Avenue spans a variety of styles and traditions, enhancing worship each week through choir, handbells, instrumental ensembles, and special music offerings. Throughout the year, the congregation is also invited into meaningful musical experiences through cantatas, collaborative services, and inspirational seasonal presentations designed to uplift, inspire, and feed the soul.
Music is a vibrant part of worship at King Avenue, enriching our services through prayer, celebration, and reflection. Learn more about choirs, handbells, instrumental ensembles, and other opportunities under Worship → Music Ministry.
Music in the Sanctuary
Besides being a beautiful, historic space, the sanctuary at King Avenue United Methodist Church offers rich acoustics that truly enhance every musical experience. Alongside the regular offerings of our Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir, we host a diverse array of performances—including pipe organ recitals, orchestras, visiting choirs, and even our carillon.
Since 2003, King Avenue Players (KAP) has been the theatrical ministry of King Avenue United Methodist Church designed to provide quality entertainment, community outreach, Christian fellowship, and worship enhancements.
The Grand Hallway Gallery
King Avenue celebrates the creative talents of our congregation through solo and group art exhibitions. The King Avenue Grand Hallway Gallery displays rotating exhibits all year. Artists who attend KAUMC, working in any medium, are invited to contact the Gallery coordinator to discuss an exhibition of their work.
