KineticNet
About
KineticNet is a two year project funded by an INI network support grant. Our aim is to bring together researchers working on kinetic theory in the UK.
Kinetic theory is an exciting and dynamic area of maths which lends itself to interdisciplinary work. At its heart, the field studies multi particle systems; such systems appear in both biological and physical contexts with examples ranging from galaxies of stars to bacterial chemotaxis. Models and equations in kinetic theory are most often approached with tools from analysis of PDEs but more recent advances in the field relied heavily on employing ideas and tools from probability, numerical analysis, and optimal transportation.
