At Kindred, a typical day kicks off with our opening session—prayer, singing, and announcements—then students head into two morning classes. After that, we all break for a community lunch (one of our favorite parts of the day!), followed by two more classes in the afternoon.
Our class lineup changes from year to year, but in the past, we’ve offered everything from Pre-K Fundamentals and Math Games to African-American Literature, Psychology, Biology, Cooking, PE, U.S. Government, and even Dual Enrollment Support.
But what really makes Kindred special is the community. Outside of classes, families get to enjoy camping trips, book clubs, movie nights, field trips, dress-up days, a sneaker ball, and so much more.
Kindred Homeschool Collective is a co-op like no other, and we’d love to get to know you. If you're wondering whether Kindred might be a good fit for your family, reach out! We’re always happy to connect, answer questions, or set up a time for you to come visit.
Coming out of 2020, after the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmad Arbery, four women (with more than 40 yrs homeschooling experience) met via Zoom to begin the formation of Kindred Homeschool Collective — an inclusive community that honors the history and traditions unique to Black and Brown people. In each subject taught, KHC would endeavor to center the contributions and dignity of these people groups in a way that none of us had seen done before.
That was and is our mission. For this, there was no template, no model to follow, and no mentors to guide. KHC is blazing a trail. And, in doing so, by God's grace, we intend to reflect our love for Him and our neighbors, following the example of Jesus.
KHC opened its doors in August of 2021.
