Spreading Joy One Bloom At a Time
In the 2025 season, the Kindness Flower Project donated 2,430 flower arrangements!
The Kindness Flower Project strives to bring joy and happiness to the recipients of our flowers. Sharing beautiful arrangements with those who show care and support to others is at the heart of what we do, and we believe that these kind gestures can brighten someone’s day and foster a sense of community.
The Kindness Flower Project is an all-volunteer organization starting its fourth season of growing cool and warm season cut flowers in a large Livermore urban garden and at Alden Farm at Alden Lane Nursery.
Volunteers sow, plant, harvest, and arrange flowers in vases, and then deliver them to people in need of cheer in our local communities of Livermore and Pleasanton. All our flowers are grown from seed, cuttings, or plant divisions. In the fall we propagate cool season annuals and perennials and prepare beds for the new planting season. In the spring, we begin harvesting the cool season flowers for arrangements and plant the summer flower beds with warm season annuals.
It starts with a seed!
Propagating: KFP begins by carefully selecting and propagating a wide variety of flowers, nurturing them from seeds and cuttings to ensure a continuous supply of vibrant blooms in spring through fall - you won’t see these flowers in any flower shop!
Gardening: We mostly utilize Molly Fisher’s own personal garden, but other local gardeners also donate flowers from their own gardens. All these gardens, cultivated with devotion, are a collaborative effort. Volunteers work side by side, weeding, watering, and caring for the plants until they reach their peak beauty.
Harvest Time
Harvest: When the flowers are ready, the volunteers harvest weekly with care, honoring the intention of bringing joy to others.
Creating Arrangements
Arranging: The harvested flowers are then transformed by the volunteers into stunning arrangements on a weekly basis.
Special Delivery!
Delivery: The final step is delivering arrangements to local schools, Livermore and Pleasanton police departments, local senior homes, hospitals, the Livermore VA hospital and joining forces with other volunteer organizations such as Culinary Angels and Meals on Wheels. In addition, special individual arrangements are delivered to those who are suffering from grief and/or illness.

NEW! KPIX Icon Award - Retired East Bay woman shares kindness through "the power of flowers"
At the heart of the Kindness Flower Project is an inspiring 83 year-young woman, Molly Fisher whose lifelong commitment to service continues to uplift others. Having served as a pediatric dentist, she founded this journey four years ago. Under her guidance, the project has grown to include over 60 active volunteers, each playing an essential role in every phase of the operation. Molly also incorporated a collaboration with the local Alden Farm at Alden Lane Nursery with the support of owner Jacquie Williams Courtright. Teamwork and generosity demonstrate the true meaning of community.
The Kindness Flower Project stands as an example of what can be achieved when individuals come together. By nurturing flowers and delivering them with care, Molly’s initiative brings beauty and hope to those who need it most.
A visit with KPIX/CBS reporter Sharon Chin for the KPIX Icon Award which was awarded to Molly for sharing joy through her Kindness Flower Project. The CBS News Bay Area Icon Award honors local community heroes who do outstanding service to make our San Francisco Bay Area a better place.
