The Application Process

1. Begin or complete your NJ FamilyCare application online today at KinderSmile Community Oral Health Center. If you do not have all of the materials needed to complete your application today, you may resume the online application at home or wherever else you have Internet access—even from your smartphone.
2. Available KinderSmile Community Oral Health Center staff and/or volunteers may assist you as much as possible, but it is up to the responsibility of legal guardians to complete and submit the proper materials needed to apply for NJ FamilyCare.
3. Typical applications are processed in 1 month or up to 45 days from when they are submitted. Eligibility is determined by the New Jersey Department of Health & Human Services, not by KinderSmile Community Oral Health Center.

Pending Applications

While your application is being processed, the applicant is eligible for the following FREE dental services at KinderSmile Community Oral Health Center:

• 1 oral exam
• 1 Caries Risk Assessment
• 1 prophylaxis (teeth cleaning)
• 1 fluoride application
• 1 set of x-rays, if needed
• Up to 8 sealants, if needed

Understanding the Application Results

• If you choose not to apply for NJ FamilyCare, you will be determined "Uninsured by Choice" and incure affordable fees for dental services at KinderSmile Community Oral Health Center.
• If you are denied NJ FamilyCare insurance, you will remain "Uninsured due to Hardship" and receive dental services at KinderSmile Community Oral Health Center pro bono (free).
