This element refers to who and who does not have access to technology, or internet outside of the classroom. It is important that the the school district, as well as the teacher be aware of this. Notes should be taken very early in the school year of who is, and who is not able to get onto the internet or online work outside of class. Teachers should have a paper copy, or an alternative assignment for students who do not have access. If the district has the money they should provide students the technology to use outside of the classroom.
Example of Digital Access
A teacher assigns homework to the class that requires the internet and a lap top. A student in the class does not have any computers at home or wifi that they can connect to. The student does not tell his teacher of this issue, so they are given a zero on this certain assignment.
This issue could be avoided in many ways. The student could have informed the teacher of the problem and the teacher could have them a paper assignment. The teacher should have already had the paper copy ready and informed the students of this.
