My name is Mindy Ruka and I have been teaching at KMS since 2011. During that time I have taught Preschool and Kindergarten. I enjoy teaching at this level and appreciate that there is never a dull moment when working with these brilliant 5 and 6 year olds!
I was fortunate enough to grow up in the KMS community and graduated from KMS High School. I live with my husband Nathan and our two children, Jackson (6) and Bethany (3) just south of Sunburg on our family farm. I enjoy spending time with friends and family and finding new and exciting activities to share with them! I am very proud of the community that I live in and feel fortunate to live and work in such a welcoming and supportive school district.
During the Kindergarten year your child will learn many new skills. Aside from the excitement of learning to read (!) your child will also learn many other skills such as: letter names and sounds, early reading concepts, number identification, adding and subtracting within 10, letter and number formation, how to work and play with self confidence and team work, beginning speaking and listening skills, how to be Safe, Kind and Responsible and many other skills that will prepare them for a life-long love of learning!
I always look forward to working with my student's and their families, and I encourage you to feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that may come up throughout the year!
