Ki Pri is an independent barcode-scanning application that helps users look up regulated product-price information published through the Price Fixing Information System of the Ministry of Commerce and Consumer Protection, Mauritius. Ki Pri is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Ministry or the Government of Mauritius.
Ki Pri requests access to the device camera solely to scan EAN and UPC product barcodes. Camera images are processed locally on the device for barcode recognition. Ki Pri does not save, upload, or share camera images or video.
When a barcode is scanned, its numeric EAN or UPC value is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to pfu.govmu.org to search for corresponding product information.
The PFU website and its hosting infrastructure may automatically receive standard network information, such as the device’s IP address, request date and time, and user-agent information. Such processing is controlled by the operator of pfu.govmu.org, not by Ki Pri.
Ki Pri:
Does not require user registration or an account.
Does not collect names, email addresses, contacts, precise location, payment information, advertising identifiers, or device identifiers.
Does not contain advertising or analytics services.
Does not sell personal information.
Does not save barcode-search history.
Does not share camera images or video.
Ki Pri does not maintain user accounts or store personal data on its own servers. Therefore, the developer has no stored user account or search history to delete. Information transmitted to pfu.govmu.org may be retained according to that website operator’s own policies and server practices.
Barcode lookups use HTTPS encryption while being transmitted. No method of electronic transmission is completely secure, but the app limits transmitted information to the barcode value needed to perform the requested lookup.
Ki Pri uses Android CameraX and Google ML Kit barcode-scanning software to process barcodes on the device. It connects to pfu.govmu.org only to retrieve PFU product information.
Ki Pri is intended for general audiences and is not specifically directed at children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
This policy may be updated if the app’s features or data-handling practices change. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
