The Energy & Polymer Chemistry (EPOCH; 새로운 시대) Laboratory at Sungkyunkwan University, led by Professor Soochan Kim, aims to elucidate the fundamental working principles of next-generation energy storage systems and to develop innovative battery materials based on this understanding. Our research focuses on systematically investigating the diverse physical, chemical, and electrochemical phenomena occurring in advanced battery systems. In parallel, we design and tailor functional polymer materials to expand their applications in next-generation batteries. Currently, our primary research areas include conversion-type electrode materials (such as sulfur, silicon, and fluoride systems), all-solid-state batteries, and anode-free metal batteries.
