Postscript
This story is an adaptation of [World’s End Fly By You]*, which the troupe performed at Theatre Sun-mall in 2010. Incidentally, [World’s End~], along with [I Was Light]* and [Reimei Romantic]* is part of our theatre troupe’s productions, and I personally call them the "Dream Labyrinth Trilogy"
At the end of last year, 2017, I co-hosted a reading performance with director Koichi Ogita, and the piece I chose was [Night on the Galactic Railroad]. I felt that even if Kenji Miyazawa were still alive, he would not have intended to publish his famed posthumous work [Night on the Galactic Railroad] for a very long time. I won’t bother to write too much about that because it would take too many words! Just that to an extent, this work captured death and depicted it as a sort of light. There's a famous anecdote that Kenji Miyazawa wrote [Night on the Galactic Railroad] after being inspired by [Alice in the Mirror Kingdom]*.
I’ll start from the end of this story.
Was Ichinose Kazuha's journey all a dream that Iidzuka Nayuta saw in the darkness? How much of it is reality and how much is a dream? I would like to leave it to the audience to decide. (Of course, I have the answer in my head.) In the first half of the play, Kokonoe wanders into the Club Theatre and meets Ichinose Kazuha. This is intentional of the script. I hold onto a sliver of light and hope that everyone who wandered in with a ticket and the audience would be able to get lost in this story with me.
The story is based on a certain accident. I cannot speak for the actual victims, as I was not affected by it. Only just that I would like to say that all the actors and staff who were involved in this production have worked diligently to bring this play to the stage.
This is the script for the performance [I Beg You at the End of the World] produced by Emukichi Beat, which was performed at Ginza Hakuhinkan* from December 1 to 11, 2018. All rights to this play are owned by Emukichi Beat Theater Company. Please contact the company for permission to perform the play.
