Memory-centric chips and architectures
for efficient, trustworthy Al.
RESEARCH DIRECTION
We connect memory technologies, circuits, computer architectures, and learning algorithms to rethink how Al computes, protects data, and interacts with the world.
In-memory computation and 3D architectures that bring processing closer to data.
Architectures and circuits for efficient privacy-preserving learning.
Hardware and algorithms for health and intelligence at the edge.
Multiple PhD openings at NC State
I am recruiting PhD students to join my group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University!
Our research focuses on memory-centric hardware and computer architectures for efficient and trustworthy AI. Current research directions include:
• Processing-in-memory and computing-in-memory architectures
• Hardware acceleration for privacy-preserving machine learning
• Energy-efficient edge and biomedical AI systems
I would be glad to hear from students interested in computer architecture, VLSI/chip design, or hardware–software co-design for machine learning. Relevant backgrounds include electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, and related fields.
Students joining the group will have opportunities to help shape new research directions and connect ideas across algorithms, architectures, and circuits.
If you are interested, please email bkim33@ncsu.edu with your CV, unofficial transcripts, and a brief description of your research interests.
