Kilsby Village Shop is a community-owned shop that was created after the village’s previous shop and post office closed, around 2018. It was set up by the community because people didn’t want Kilsby to lose an 'everyday' shop altogether.
Kilsby had a traditional village shop and Post Office on Main Road but that business sadly eventually closed.
Rather than simply accepting that the village would no longer have a shop, local people created a new community-owned shop.
It is now in the car park behind the Red Lion, in what the shop itself rather honestly describes as a “big shed” with lots of parking.
A place to meet - see people you know, meet friends, have a chat and take part in village activities and events.
Helping people stay connected – especially important for older residents, people living alone, or anyone who might otherwise have fewer opportunities to see others.
A reason to pop out – sometimes a quick trip to the shop is about more than what's in your basket. It's about seeing a familiar face and meeting people.
Volunteering, helping & getting involved – opportunities to give something back, meet people, learn new skills and play a part in village life.
Something we all have a stake in – the shop belongs to the community, and its future depends on people using it, supporting it and getting involved.
Keeping Kilsby connected – alongside the practical things we provide, we want the shop to be part of what makes Kilsby a friendly, active and connected village.
Acessible for all visitors. We have a ramp to the front, power assisted door and local delivery.
