KidsHub is a child-friendly Android home screen and launcher designed for families. This privacy policy explains what information the app uses and how it is handled.
KidsHub is published by Roots Lab (“we”, “our”, “us”).
KidsHub does not use servers and does not send any personal data to us.
All information used by KidsHub is stored locally on your device only.
KidsHub has no ads, no analytics, and no user accounts.
Parents or guardians are expected to set up and manage the app for their children.
KidsHub stores the following information only on your device, inside the app’s private storage:
Child profiles
Child name (a name or nickname you choose)
Avatar selection (which icon is shown for the child)
Parent PIN
A 4-digit parent PIN used to unlock the Parent Settings area.
Allowed apps & favourites
The list of apps you choose to show to a child in:
the Games section, and
the home screen favourites.
Technically this is stored as the package names of the selected apps (e.g. com.example.game).
Allowed videos
The list of video files you select from your device for each child to watch.
KidsHub stores only:
the content URI / path to the video, and
the display name of the file (e.g. myvideo.mp4).
Pictures and drawings
Photos taken using the KidsHub camera button.
Drawings created in the Drawing section (including colours and stamps).
These are saved as image files inside KidsHub’s app-specific pictures folder on the device.
KidsHub does not collect or store any extra information such as date of birth, address, email, or online identifiers.
KidsHub uses the information above only to provide the app’s features:
Show the correct child name and avatar on the home screen.
Keep the Parent Settings area protected with a PIN.
Show only the apps you have whitelisted for each child.
Show only the videos you have selected for each child.
Let children view, delete and manage the pictures and drawings they create in KidsHub.
This information is not shared with Roots Lab and is not sent to any server.
We do not collect, sell, or share your data with third parties.
KidsHub does not include:
advertising SDKs,
analytics / tracking SDKs,
social media SDKs.
However, apps and games you choose to whitelist inside KidsHub are third-party apps, and they have their own privacy policies and data practices. Those are not controlled by KidsHub.
KidsHub requests the following Android permission:
Camera (android.permission.CAMERA)
Used only to take photos inside KidsHub and save them to the KidsHub pictures folder.
Photos are kept on the device and are not uploaded by KidsHub.
KidsHub also uses standard Android system pickers to let you choose video files from your device. It requests long-term read access to those files so they can be played later, but it does not upload them or modify them.
KidsHub does not request access to contacts, location, microphone, phone, SMS, or similar sensitive permissions.
KidsHub is designed to be used by children under the control of a parent or guardian.
All setup (profiles, app whitelists, video selection, PIN) should be done by an adult.
KidsHub itself does not send any child data to us or to remote servers.
We recommend that parents also use the Google Play parental controls and system-level settings to control in-app purchases, adverts and online content in other apps.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly (for example, via an email), please contact us so we can delete it.
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you can remove it at any time by:
Deleting specific photos or drawings from within KidsHub.
Removing whitelisted apps or videos in the Parent Settings area.
Clearing KidsHub’s app data in Android system settings.
Uninstalling KidsHub from your device (this deletes app data and its private storage).
We may update this privacy policy from time to time, for example when we add new features. If the changes are significant, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and may highlight the changes in the app or on this page.
If you have any questions about this privacy policy or how KidsHub handles data, please contact:
