Check out the incredible artwork made this year by our superhero student artists for their teachers!
Kids For Kids is a project dedicated to connecting students with each other through the arts. Artistically-inclined students would be paired with other students facing a difficult time in their lives. Based on a short autobiographical description from the receiving student, the student artist would create a piece of artwork for them. Our mission is to foster a sense of empathy and connection in the kids involved.
After witnessing the disheartening effects that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on our schools, we have revised our aims for 2021. Kids For Kids: For Teachers is an off-shoot of the original Kids For Kids endeavor, enlisting student artists to create uplifting artwork for teachers.
We understand how tough this past year has been for many of our teachers and students. That is why we want to create an opportunity to engage students artistically and boost morale in our school communities!
Students will nominate teachers to receive artwork as a gift at the end of a very difficult school year. We aim to work with about 20 middle schools, with 4-6 resident artists in each school. Each student artist will complete 4 pieces of art work over the course of 4 weeks in May. Ultimately, we hope to deliver a total of 400 pieces of artwork to teachers before the end of the school year!
It's an ambitious goal, and that is where all of our great, creative, young minds come in!
Our team is based at Duquesne University's School of Education.
