My name is Kären (Car•en) Dunbar and I am a daughter, niece, and mother with two beautiful adulting daughters (new uncomfortable phase of life). I am a NJ born Houstonian who has had the pleasure of living on the east coast, west coast, island of Puerto Rico, south and southwest.
I graduated from the University of Houston-UP in 1994 with a degree in Psychology and started my career as a MH casemanager for MHMRA (The Harris Center). Then slowly gravitated towards education after several years in social service. In 2003, with support from family and friends I completed my alternative certifcation program and began my career as an educator.
As with most educators I wear many hats: these are my official titles Dyslexia Teacher, Title 1 Campus Compliance Coordinator, Section 504 Facilitator, Instructional Leadership Team and Shared Decision Committee member. Unofficially I am a "campus mom", counselor, cheerleader, advocate and when needed disciplinarian.
It has been my pleasure to be an educator for the past 20 years and with the integration of technology pedagogy I hope for 20 more.
