Six assistive devices were developed for one-handed people, each aimed at aiding them in performing one day-to-day life activity. All the devices were designed to be additively manufactured, which gives the advantage of producing customized devices on small scale without significantly increasing costs.
An educational board game was developed for the visually impaired to help them understand the map of India. Special attention was paid to designing the tactile surfaces of the board and pegs. All pegs were identifiable by the virtue of touch. The game was user tested and it was found that the game indeed helped the players form a mental image of the map.
A low cost indoor navigation system was designed and prototyped to enable the visually disabled to find their way in indoor premises.
Cubico is a concept design of a tangible user interface for shopping furniture in a virtual store. Each "brick" can be mapped to one furniture. Manipulations of brick in the space allow the users to explore the virtual furniture model. The position of device is tracked and the 3D model is rendered simultaneously in the virtual environment.
Aura is designed to give a good audio experience to users. Current audio solutions are either in a tactical contact with the user (which is not healthy) or they are huge and need installation making it less portable. Aura takes the essence from these type of products to give users a theater-like feel while still being portable.
CoviDefeat is an AR based game which can be played indoors on a smartphone device. A virus appears randomly from one of the six directions (front, back, left, right, up, down). The player is supposed to locate the virus and kill it by tapping on the “Fire” button. Failure to locate/kill a virus leads to end of game.
This is a project on making a drawing robot which can be pre-programmed to draw a given shape on a flat paper. The drawing bot is lightweight, compact and portable. We programmed our drawbot to draw simple geometric shapes such as hexagons and concentric arcs.
Design and Prototyping of a minimalistic chess set.
A one-minute stop-motion animation on deforestation. The background music was composed using non-musical instruments, as required in this assignment.
Conducted user research and organised participatory design sessions to design a cycle sharing system for residents of IIT Guwahati. Personas were identified and insights from participatory design sessions were used to design the system.
A study was conducted to compare the user bias on two tea packaging with different textures; a weaved and a printed one. Fifteen users rates the designs on six parameters. While the packaging with the weaved texture was perceived to be more natural and more tasty, the printed design was perceived to be more credible.
Aakar is an educational game focused on teaching concepts of geometry and properties of different two-dimensional shapes to children. Ideal for students of sixth grade and above, this game compels students to think differently, visualize figures, and learn geometry while having fun. Aakar was tested by playing and observing more than 20 rounds of the game.
Lecture Hall Complex, IIT Guwahati consists of four halls each having a capacity of 250 seats. This scale down model was prototyped using surface development. The 3D form was mapped onto a 2D plane, printed in colour, and then cut and folded to arrive at the final form.
This project was done individually as a part of DD 324 Plastics and Composites course. This project helped me enhance my 3D modelling and rendering skills. I observed intricacies in the products which have been designed carefully so as to be manufacturable and usable.
Parametric modelling of a lamp shade. The form design is comprised of Voronoi cells which are often found in biological structures such as dragonfly wings.
The course on Form studies introduced us to 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional forms, form composition, use of metaphors to generate new forms, form-transition, and radii manipulation.
The design of the lamp shade is inspired from the pattern on beautiful perforated stones present in monuments of Indo-Islamic architecture.
Design and making of a flatpack stool using wood.
The Lotus Temple, located in New Delhi, India, is a place of worship open to all religions. The form of the temple is inspired from a lotus flower and is composed of 27 "petals" arranged in clusters of three.
