Dr. Khushubo Devi is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Metallurgy Engineering and Materials Science at the Indian Institute of Technology Indore. Prior to joining IIT Indore, she was an Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Postdoctoral Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research GmbH, Germany, under the mentorship of Prof. Dierk Raabe. Her postdoctoral research focused on a systematic in-situ study of the rate-limiting steps during hydrogen-based direct reduction of iron ore. This work is positioned at the cutting edge of sustainable engineering, with significant implications for reducing carbon emissions in the steel manufacturing sector.
Dr. Khushubo Devi earned her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, where her research was centered on the phase transformation behavior of multiphase alloy nanoparticles. She conducted extensive experimental investigations, coupled with thermodynamic modeling, to understand the evolution of microstructure and phase stability in alloy nanoparticles embedded in metal matrices. Her doctoral work employed advanced characterization techniques, including in-situ XRD, STEM-EDS, and in-situ TEM, as well as computational tools such as FactSage and Calphad.
Her research interests encompass a broad range of topics in sustainable metallurgy and materials science, including green steel, hydrogen plasma-based and direct reduction of iron ores, and environmental in-situ TEM. Additionally, she has a strong focus on phase transformation phenomena and the development of advanced nanomaterials. Dr. Khushubo Devi is committed to advancing sustainable practices in metallurgical processes, with the aim of supporting the global transition toward greener industrial technologies.
